Chapter 7

Secret Identity.
I walked home since it wasn't that far from the school. I was so exhausted.. all that in one day. I unlocked the door & there I saw my mother.
"Hey honey, how was school?" She ask me. She was looking through magazines & drinking coffee.
"It was good & also, coffee at this time of day?" I say as I check my phone.
"Haha, yeah. Cravings.." My mom responds & laughs.
I walked upstairs to my room & jumped flat onto my bed.
"This was so exhausting.." I say to myself.
I grab my towel & head to my bathroom to shower.
After I get ready for bed, I get a text on my phone. It was Alex.
*Text scene*
"Same number, Y/n?" He texts me.
I laugh & responded with "Yeah, you remember my number?"
"By heart, Y/n 😌" he responds back.
"Weird 🙄" I typed while smiling down at my phone.
"Wanna meet up after school tomorrow? I can also give you a ride after?" He texts me.
"Sure, thanks."
"Cool, goodnight, Y/n."
"Goodnight, Alex." I text back ending the conversation.
I was excited for some reason. I wonder if that kiss meant something? Sigh.

*Next day*
I woke up from my alarm, I rolled & rolled til BOOM. I fell off my mom, what woke me up the most was my mom screaming my name.
"Y/N!!!! WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT???!!" My mom yells from downstairs.
"nOtHing!!!!!" I yell back.
I get up from the floor & went to get ready.
After I got ready, I grabbed my backpack & walked downstairs. My mom was sitting on the rocking chair holding a coffee cup.
"Have a good day, Y/n." She says as I get down the stairs.
"Thanks & where's dad?" I ask.
"Oh, he left earlier than usually today. He said that he should be home around the time you get off of school." My mom responds & sets her coffee cup down on the small wooden table.
"Oh.. okay." I say while opening the front door.
"Do you need a ride?" My mom ask.
"No, it's just right there." I mumbled as I start closing the door.

My parents have been through a lot. Growing up, I moved a lot. I grew up in Reno, Nevada but I moved to many places due to my father's job. We would move to California to Florida to Arizona, it was crazy. I didn't grow up as an only child. I have a older brother, he's 25. When he turned 18, he moved out to San Jose. My mom worked as an art teacher, but then quit because my dad was making a lot of money at the time. My father knows everyone in the area we live in, so that's why we were able to get a beautiful house.

I get to school & see Carlos. I tried to ignore him because of what happened yesterday. I felt bad, but it's probably for the best to ignore him for today. I walked into the school, to my locker to get my books for class. Then, I see Alex in the corner with Hailey & Sam. His arms were her waist & smiling. Smiling. I repeat. I grew into sadness & slammed my locker so hard to where everyone looked at me, even Alex & his little girlfriends. I looked around & ran as fast I could to the restroom. I ran into one of the stalls & starting crying.
That kiss didn't mean anything. I really thought it meant something, I just didn't want to admit it. Deep down, he's such an asshole. Kisses girls when they're full of anger. I just want to go home..

I clinched my fist & sighed. I walked out of the stalk & washed my face. As my face peeped up as I rinsed my face, all I could see is the girl I used to be. The girl who was always picked on & who never fitted in with the other girls. I could never compare, even to now. I wiped my face with a paper towel & walked out of the bathroom. Everyone stared at me as I walked passed them. I felt embarrassed & my anxiety was high. Then, I felt someone grab my arm & pulled me into a dark room. I couldn't see as I shook my whole body to have that person let go of my arm. The lights turned on & the door closed. I looked up & saw Alex.
"What the fuck do you want?" Those were the first words I said to him.
"You." He days & looks deep into my eyes."
"Shut up, Alex. You were literally all over Hailey WHEN YOU LITERALLY KISSED ME YESTERDAY." I shout at him.
"You don't understand, Y/n. That's why I asked you to hang out with me after school, to explain everything." He says calmly.
"Please.. calm down." He continued.
His voice & his gentle touch on my arm calmed me down. I grew into chills & got goosebumps on me.
"Please.. meet me after school. I've been meaning to tell you all this." He tells me & hugs me gently.
I stood there & he let go.
"Okay.." I say & pushed his arm away from me.
I walk out of the room & to my class, leaving Alex in the room.
