Caleb found a place on Google Maps called Pallet that seemed refreshing, so he took a right into the parking lot and got out.

"It smells nice," he whispered to himself as he entered. He giggled. What? That's such a cracker-barrel thing to whisper to yourself.

"How many?" a young woman in a black tee asks, appearing behind the counter in front of him and catching him by surprise.

"Oh, just one."

She writes something, and then grins at him.

"Someone will be with you in a second." And she turns on her heel to leave.

Your POV now ok

Mum offered to drive me, but getting into a car with a stranger sounds way more exciting.

So I called an Uber, something I've never done before.

I kind of lost my car to the government after hundreds of unpaid parking tickets...so, it's time to get kidnapped!

His name was Rajesh.

"Take me to the place of your dreams!" I squeal as I hop in the backseat. He blinks at me through the rear view mirror.

"You said Pallet earlier."

I blush. "Pallet. Yeah. Take me there."

What the hell was that? I'm too awkward for my own good...

He didn't talk after that but I kept rambling on about cute boys and if my hair looked fine or if he liked me and would date me...he said no. To the last one, at least. Well, I wouldn't date you either, Rajesh!

I haven't been out in awhile, let alone interacted with strangers, apart from on the internet, so I might be a little rusty...

"So I think-"

"Why don't we turn on the radio?" he interrupts me.

"Ok," I say quietly. I was just about to tell him what I thought of him. He was kind of a loser and not very intimidating for a kidnapper.

Your loss, nerd.

We finally arrive at Pallet, and I exit the car.

"Thank you, mister!" I smile at him from the outside of the car. Rajesh rolls down the window. He takes out a cigarette and puts it in his mouth.

"I give you one star."

And then he speeds away.

I exhale air through my nose and start for the doors of the restaurant.

I enter and immediately stroll towards the counter, where I rest my elbows and look over to the person to my left. My face goes ultra red and I lose some of my cool.

Shit. He's a hottie.

He looks at me sideways and smiles.

I turn away and put my hands on my forehead. Goddammit. He saw me.

"Nice place, isn't it?"

His voice startles me. He's an Aussie! I take a breath and tell myself that I can do this.

"Totally, love," I turn to him. He catches my English accent.
