It was a few months since Harry's 3rd year started and Remus and McGonagle were in the staff room talking about some students, mostly Fred and George and how some of there pranks were better than the Marauders.
Remus looked shocked at this and said that he can't wait to see what they ended up doing after Hogwarts. McGonagall said she always wondering how James and Sirius always came up with so many great pranks this made Remus laugh a bit.
At this point, some of the other teachers had made their way to the staff room including Dumbledore.
McGonagall looked at Remus and asked "what was so funny"
he just looked at her with a guilty look and said "I was the one who came up with most of the pranks"
McGonagall was so shocked with this she yelled "Mr Lupin your joking right!?" this caught the attention of others and they ask what was going on.
All the teachers in the room had been at Hogwarts when the Marauders were there so they all knew of the pranks. McGonagall looks at all of them and told them that Lupin was the one who came up with the pranks. They all look just as shocked. Dumbledore didn't look surprised at all and started to laugh a bit, Remus asks Dumbledore why he was laughing and he said he always knew it was Remus who planned the pranks.
everyone ask how and he said "because the person who had the brains to come up with the pranks also had the brains for how not to get caught, that's why I made him a prefect"
