An: This song is full property of owl city it is not mine and the only reason I had James write it is that the song came out in 2011 after they died all the song lyrics are in bold.

It was the end of year ball of Lilys last year at Hogwarts and she could not find James anywhere. She had just finished asking Alice Prewitt if she saw him or any of the other marauders when Dumbledore went up to the stage where the music was being played that had a big curtain which nobody knew why it was there.

"I hope everyone if having a great time" started Dumbledore "this year we have a group of students who asked to perform a song so please put your hands together for the marauders"

Lily was not the only one to stare dumbfounded at the stage as the curtain move. showing Remus at the piano, peter on base, Sirius on drums and then James holding a guitar in front of a microphone.

"Hello Hogwarts the song we're playing is called Deer in the Headlight that I wrote about a certain flower" everyone turned to look at Lily who was blushing and still in shock.

Met a girl in the parking lot and all I did was say hello

Her pepper spray made it rather hard for me to walk her home

People were starting to dance a bit as the shock war off.

They were quiet for a moment before James start to talk

I also know it took you a bit to reciprocate those feelings but after 6 years 4 months 2 weeks and 1 day you said yes. and with the world how it is right now I'm so lucky to have you. you have a way of making all my worry's go away. I love you, Lily Evens, I've known that since I was 11 and I've known since I was 12 that one day- James grab something from his pocket and slowly got down on one knee- I would marry you. so Evens will you marry me"

Lily started to cry and ran to hug James when she got there he nearly fell over from the force.

"So is this a yes," asks James

"6 years 4 months 2 weeks and 1 day worth of yes" said Lily

The great hall broke into applause as they kissed we the rest of the marauders with Sirius singing started playing a cover of pictures of Lily by the who.

Later that night when lily and Remus were sitting in the common room drinking tea for the last time before they leave tomorrow morning.

"So who actually wrote that song," asked Lily

"James he's been working on it since Christmas and he had to talk Dumbledore into letting us play at the dance and we probably spent more times practising that song then we did studying for exams," said Remus

"As cute as the song was I don't think I've ever pepper-sprayed him," said Lily

Remus let out a laugh then said "third-year after Christmas you used the pepper spray charm"

"That seems like forever ago," said Lily

Remus nodded in agreement

"I also want to know what was with the whole deer thing like I know you guys call him prongs but why," asked Lily

"That is exactly what the guys are waiting to show you," said Remus
