Requested by @Sarcastic_Sushi
A/N: I really like this request given this time so I kinda went all out and wrote a bunch haha. Basically it's a story where reader is involved in an arranged marriage to which neither her or her betrothed wish to actually be married. Reader obviously has reservations because she in truth has feelings for Sho. Oh gosh. Also! I set this story during Edo period Japan where arranged marriages between families for beneficial gain was a thing. And this reader will be strictly female throughout hence why I put Fem Reader so I won't disappoint anyone in mid-read! Hope you enjoy!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The air by the river was nice and warm. The sounds of nature were like music to your ears compared to the hustle and bustle of the village. You were walking along with your best friend, Sho Suzuki, just enjoying the silence that had fallen between you two. Occasionally, you'd sneak glances at the attractive young man and just get a smile fit...and maybe a little bit of a palpitating heart as well.
Of course you and Sho were friends, but in your heart you knew there was something more to your relationship. Some part of you liked to think Sho felt the same.
"Hey, (name)," Sho said, you looking at him again,
"Wanna play in the river?"
You scoffed,
"You kidding? My mom would kill .e if my clothes got wet."
Suddenly, like Sho had ignored your comment entirely, ran into the river. Without even a second to spare and an evil glint to his eye, Sho used his hands to splash a huge amount of water at you. Luckily your quick reflexes allowed you to dodge most of it, only your feet getting wet.
"Sho!" you laughed as the red-haired boy threw another handful of river water at you.
"Sho, stop you're getting my clothes wet!" You said in-between giggles.
Sho laughed gently and smiled at you,
"Ok, ok, fine," Sho sighed and sat down right at the bank of the river. You did the same, sitting so that you could lean on him a bit. There was a small moment of calm as you both listened to the running of the river, completely content.
"I really don't wanna go to that thing tonight," you said in a low voice, pulling your knees up to your face.
Sho tilted his head,
"Oh, right. Your parents are gonna see the Kageyamas right?"
You nodded, but also humphed,
"I don't see why I have to go. It's none of my business and I don't care," you looked at Shou from your peripherals,
"I'd rather just stay here with you..."
Shou smiled bashfully and leaned back on his hands, looking towards the sky,
"...I'd like that too."
You lifted your head this time at Sho's words, your heart skipping more than a few times. You quickly buried yourself in your knees yet again, a deep heat to your face.
If only that could really happen...
A solemn silence lingered between you and your parents as you shuffled behind them, your sandals clacking along the ground. Your attention was directed towards the starry night sky, your eyes beginning to water as you wondered if Sho was also looking at the stars...
