Silence Summers, a seemingly gloomy and anti-social 'freak' found himself upstairs, in his room...writing poetry.

It wasn't just because he enjoyed doing that kind of stuff, but it was also going to be his entry for a poem-writing competition, and with that shiny new laptop up for first prize, he would be stupid to pass off a chance to get it just because writing poetry wasn't deemed 'cool' by the people around him.

He had closed the windows, drawn the blinds, and had shut the door, leaving himself with a silent atmosphere.

It was his ideal living space.

Unfortunately, not even ten minutes later, the dark wooden door was flung open, and the ever bubbly form of none other than Hope Summers skipped into the room with a huge bag of potato chips.

Silence winced slightly when his brother slammed the door closed with the power of his extreme recklessness.

Hope, however, paid no mind to the loud sound and plopped himself down on the floor next to Silence.

He did not say anything, and Silence almost sighed in relief as the peace and quietness of the room had been maintained.

And yet, once again in his life, Silence's relief was short-lived.

"Ooh! What's the poem about now? Can I read it?" Asked Hope, reaching out for the piece of paper, only to have his hand smacked away by Silence.

Silence gave Hope a sharp glare and the message was quick to reach Hope.

Hope put his hands up in a defensive manner, which told Silence quite easily enough that he would not be grabbing the paper away for the rest of the day.

Or the rest of the hour.

Silence rolled his eyes and went back to writing his poem while Hope watched.

It seemed their lives were quite normal, with all the usual playful bickering that siblings do and the fights that would be over in minutes.

But never would anyone ever be able to guess that the bond that these two had was so strong, that only death could break it.
