The hours passed and Silence's poem was finally completed.
Hope had gotten bored half-way and since he had already finished all of his chips, he had started playing free games on his phone while lying on his bed.
Thankfully, he had actually decided to put his phone on silent mode, and Silence's head stayed clear enough to finish the poem.
He held up the poem and managed a small smile.
Hope looked over to him, and when he saw the finished poem, he jumped off the double-decker bed and stopped beside Silence.
"Is it done? Can I read it now? Please, Silence? Pleeeeeeaaaaaase?"
Silence almost shook his head, but one look at his brother who had his puppy-dog eyes on made him sigh and give Hope the 'okay'.
Hope's eyes lit up, and a wide smile spread across his face.
He took the piece of paper and carefully read it silently, looking closely at every word.
Silence rolled his eyes.
Hope might have had a short attention span, but when he read Silence's poems, he seemed to be able to look at the plain undecorated text all day.
Hope had said it was because it was his brother's work and he wanted to treasure its 'greatness', which of course, Silence had snorted at.
Yet, looking at his brother as his dark blue eyes clung onto the words almost made Silence believe that Hope really meant what he had said.
Suddenly, a loud crash by the window made the two boys look up and without a single word, the two dashed to the window, Hope placing Silence's poem down on the bedside table first.
Silence opened the curtains and looked at the glass.
A rather chubby pigeon was perched at the window sill, its feathers ruffled.
It was holding onto a small letter with its beak.
"A letter? Ooh! Do you have a girlfriend, Silence?" Questioned Hope.
Silence answered with a 'no' but Hope seemed to have managed to translate it into a 'yes'.
"Silence has a girlfriend! Silence has a girlfriend! Silence has a girlfriend! Silence has a girlfriend! Silence has a-ow!"
Silence drew his hand away from his brother's face, giving a small 'hmph'.
Hope rolled his eyes and whispered, "You still have a girlfriend," before turning back to the pigeon outside their window.
Silence slowly opened the window, and strangely enough, the pigeon just dumped the letter onto the window sill and flew off quickly.
Silence took hold of the letter and tore the white envelope open.
The letter inside was small, and had only one word on it.
'Hello.'
