march 20th, the spring equinox, also known as the first day of spring.
the sunshine on my face as i finally open my eyes. 7:30. i look out of my dorm window to see the remnants of winter snow from the night before as it slowly starts to melt away and make way for the spring.
i find myself zoning out for a couple seconds, staring blankly at the random, white patches and how they slowly turn into small puddles.
i managed to snap out of it, leaving just enough time to get ready. 7:45.
walking to school feels the same everyday, no change except for the scenery- at times like these, i tend to just sit back and leave myself on 'autopilot', admiring my surroundings. As i arrive at the entrance i'm greeted by friends;
"hey! sorry i was kinda late today i woke up late...forgive me?" i ask my best friend.
"are you kidding me kinda is an understatement- let's go!"
we both just laugh it off and run to our lecture: Physics.
we turn up at the door of the lecture theatre only to see our whole class, staring directly at us- including our teacher- we exchange smiles and then sit down.
"now tell me, do you think our universe is unique? In fact what if there are other ones out there-"
i sit at my desk, with my head flat on the table, almost tearing up with boredom, 10:00- the door opens behind me and out walks kim yohan- tall, dark hair and...late to the lecture. honestly why did he even bother, there's no point coming in halfway through the lecture. i don't really know him personally but i've seen him around-
"uh...hwang minseo(?) can I uh, copy your work"
excuse me
"oh, sorry but...i actually haven't done any work myself.."
"no- it's alright i was late anyways," he says while waving his hands around, as if apologetic.
maybe he isn't so bad after all. At least from what I can see.
"but hey, i did manage to get some stuff written down so i guess you can copy that.." i felt bad so i let him copy the small amount of work i did do.
thank you so much- i really appreciate it," he replies, looking directly at me and then turning away as soon as i look back, i don't really know what to think anymore.
"thank you, really, i mean it," he repeats himself.
"yeah- i was just helping a fellow student out you know?"
"right. i agree," he nods.
finally the lecture ends and we're let out of the lecture theatre, but before i could leave i hear my name being called from behind me. it was hard to see with all the students trying to leave the room-
"hwang minseo! can i tell you something," it was yohan.
i carefully try to make my way down the stairs to hear what he has to say."you look familiar, i recognise you from somewhere," he says,
"uh, i don't think we've ever met before..? so-"
"well then, can i get to know you?"
"okay," i respond hesitantly and smile, then continue to leave the lecture theatre.
"tomorrow, at the boba place!" i hear him shout.
i look back at him and put my thumbs up- let's just see how this whole thing goes, because, actually, i feel like i have seen him before, i just don't know where.
