"Mrs. Hood!" I tried to be heard by the woman I was here for.
"Mrs. Hood, please," I begged again. However, the crowd was too loud. Everyone was trying to get her attention at themselves. I would never imagine her being so popular. I would never imagine this many people being interested in Ancient Rome. Not that it was not interesting, I've always had this thing for Caesar, but these people were crazy. Everyone was calling her name so my not so loud voice was barely heard by myself. I couln't even hope to be heard by the woman. So I simply followed the crowd to her desk where the "Ask and sign" desk took place. I stepped into the queue and decided to wait until it comes to me to ask her something.
Loads of people were in front of me and maybe even more were behind. The majority of them was holding some books, probably written by Serena Hood and had them signed by the lector. I was just awkwardly standing there, hands in my pockets, trying to figure out what do I even say in this situation to someone like her? I'm sure that there is no advice of doing it right.
All my thoughts faded away when I stood in front of her. She was smiling at me but you could tell it was not as sincere as you would smile to someone you liked. I'm not surprised, though. She had to smile to many and many people before, she was might just tired.
"Uhm, hello," I greeted her awkwardly, internally face palming. Keep calm, Michael.
"Hi, do you have a question?" she asked formally, no emotion shown.
"Well... yes, but I actually would like to make it private, if it's okay with you. It's really important, but I can't ask you here. Would you be able to talk to me after this session, please?" I begged here quietly so no one could hear us.
"Oh... I don't know. I need to go home, it would be late," she shifted, obviously uncomfortable with me.
"Please. It won't take much time," I beggeg once again. I placed my hands onto the desk and leaned in.
"Please, Mrs Hood. It's about Calum," I whispered and I could see how her expression changed. it became more concern and maybe a bit harsh and angry, too.
"Fine, wait for me outside, when this ends," she gave me one last stern look before I was replaced by another man tryiing to have his book signed.
An hour or so later I was stood by the door frame outside the University, leaning against the red wall, waiting for the woman to come. Suddenly, the door crooked and her black hair popped out.
"So what do you want to know about my son?" she snapped at me in angry way. I had to blink two more times before grabbing myself together to be able to respond.
"Well, I know that he's not exactly your son," I said maybe more bitter than I wanted to. Her eyes grew wide and she approached me to have a better look.
"How did you find out?" she hissed at me through gritted teeth. I guess she's not very happy about me knowing about Calum in this way.
"I have this project, but it doesn't matter. All I wanna do is to talk to him, that's all," I put my hands up in defence, taking two steps back.
"Well, you won't speak to him. I'm not allowing that. He is my son and no one will change it." she glared at me before quickly walking from me. I took a deep breath.
If she doesn't allow me to talk to him, what do I do?
