You just wanted some food.

Walking along the sidewalk, you smiled at the sun. It was a new day, and everything was wonderful. The monsters and humans had integrated beautifully, although there was the occasional quarrel that was swiftly resolved. Your father had sent you out to get groceries, and you planned on meeting Frisk as well.

Wearing a (F/C) sweater, you hummed quietly to yourself. The tune was always new, the melody always changing. A cold breeze swept through your (H/L) (H/C) hair, as if the wind was singing too.

It was always like that. Every week father would send you for groceries (he was too busy working at the school to shop), and you'd meet up with Frisk. Although repetitive, you never got bored.

Shoes clomping on the ground, you finally arrived at the grocery store. Almost everything could be found inside, from Grillby's to Muffet's new bakery. You and Frisk always stopped by both, the smells enticing and delicious.

"(Y/N)!" Smiling widely, you turned to an excited Frisk. Their striped weather was slightly messy, along with their brown hair. Although their eyes looked closed, you knew that Frisk could see as well as any person.

The two of you fell into step as you gushed, "You won't believe what happened. So you know how mom and dad are constantly talking about the peace treaty and how they appreciate it? Guess what? They're going on the royal guard!"

Frisk gasped. "Oh stars. No way."

The two of you continued talking as you shopped, gathering a nice healthy meal of Cinnibuns and Spider Donuts. You slipped in a slice of butterscotch pie while Frisk wasn't looking and covered it with a pastry bag. That'll be a surprise!

Only on last stop on your list-Grillby's. Frisk sent you a knowing look before pushing the door open. And who else would be there at the bar but your favorite skeleton?

"Hey kiddo," Sans smiled as you pulled yourself into the barstool. "I was wondering when we were going to ketchup."

Giggling quietly to yourself, you ordered a large fries. Frisk asked for a burger, and Sans (being, of course, Sans) called for a bottle of ketchup. It was always ketchup.

As you munched on your fries, bag in one hand, Sans asked, "So I heard your parents are joining the guard. Must be pretty excited about that, huh?"

Nodding, you readjusted your weight. The bags had nearly slipped out of your hands even while walking. Damn, were you clumsy. You always tried to make up for the clumsiness by helping others as much as possible without tripping over yourself in the process.

"Papyrus finally got in, right?" Frisk remarked, taking a bag from you. You sighed gratefully. "After many years and one human hunt, he got in?"

Sans' smile widened, if that was even possible from how he was already holding his face. "Well, yeah. Told you my bro had it in 'em. Especially after chasing you all through the Underground."

You watched them talk back and forth, chatting about former timelines (whatever that meant) and Ms. Toriel and Mr. Asgore. The two were divorced, although they've gotten on friendly terms now.

The crowd didn't notice you walking by. They did notice Frisk, however, and would wave or say hi. You were just another friendly face in the world, helping and minding their own business and eating fries.

And everything was perfect.

At least, that's what it should have been.

You felt happy with your life as a stranger, but something felt... missing. Just missing. There was no better word to describe it. The worst thing about it was that you had no one what it could be. Your new humming tune came out as you lost yourself in thought.
