Hours passed. Maybe days with her only movement being letting Max either in or out of the house, or feeding the two of them.

"You don't care." She tried to convince herself as she lay on her bed. "You don't care about Do—he probably flirted with every girl that crossed his path. Your probably not even close to the prettiest girl he'd flirted with. Why then would he take a--- take a bullet for you?" Her voice cracked dragging her back into the downward spiral of her mind. "He probably saw me getting attached to him and—and—I don't know! Why would he take a bullet for me!?" She screamed out.

Max jumps on her bed and starts whining, nudging her with his nose. She lets out a resigned sigh and scratches his head. "Do you want to go out boy?" She asked actually ling for the first time in two days. Max always had that effect on her. getting up she let Max outside, but froze when she spotted the other girl and her dog. The girl had long red hair, her dog some sort of German Sheppard mixed with something Golden.

It wasn't there appearances that caught her eye though, it was their actions. She was putting her dog in the kennel Lily had built for Max in her fenced in back yard. The dog had a muzzle on but there was foam still visibly coming out of it. She yelled for Max to get back in, he obeyed quickly after growling at the other dog.

Then the girl spotted her, she quickly turned around frightened as if she was going to pull out a gun or something. "Oh my God, I'm really sorry! I needed to put my dog somewhere safe so they won't..." She trailed off looking like she was about to cry.

She wanted to be nice honestly but after what this girl tried to pull Lily didn't want her or her dog anywhere near her house. "Get out of my property." She hissed at the two of them.

Looking like she had just shot the both of them her face turned to pleading. "Do you really want to be responsible for someone else's death!? Again!?" She yelled.

Lily froze. How could she possibly know about that? How the fuck did she know about that!? "Get out!" she screamed at her.

A strange look came over her face. Slowly it morphed into a mix of anger and determination. Then she reached down slowly and took the muzzle off her dog. Now Lily was facing a snarling, rabid dog and it was running right for her. Leaping into action she tried to pull the door shut, but before she could Max came running out of nowhere, taking down the rabid dog in a mix of fur and blood. Despite her screams the two dogs kept at each other, tumbling to the ground biting and clawing at each other. Her heart dropped when she saw with her own eyes her beloved dog get bit.

As Max dropped to the ground the scene from her childhood movie Old Yeller kept playing through her head. Every child knows what happens when a normal dog gets attacked by a rabid one because of that movie. She was pulled from the inner horror show by the rabid dog leaping at her.

Next thing she hears is gunshots taking her back, and for a brief moment she sees Do flashing through her memory. Instead of the African American woman with shoulder length black hair and big brown eyes it was Do with the gun, shooting the rabid dog, then shooting Max, flashing her out of the hallucination.

Screaming she shut the door on the horrific scene and ran to her room. Another two gunshots rang out and then a scream. Another scream sounded before the third and final scream was cut short. Deciding to take action she pulled out her phone rapidly dialing 911.

"Hello? Hello? I need cops and an ambulance!" She barked out her voice thick with emotion.

After receiving her address the lady on the other line said "I'm sorry ma'am but I can't send people there."

"Why the hell not." Lily screamed. Someone started banging on the door.

"Do you have a gun?" The lady asked hesitantly.
