Authors note: So this is another poem. Of course it is, this is a collection of poems. Anyways, um, I wrote this poem a couple of months ago when I was up late because insomnia is a jerk and I looked outside, saw the moon and felt inspired to write a poem. Weird story, I guess. Anyways: here's the poem
A Midsummer Moon
Glowing golden light
The night sky shines with your beauty
Even the stars have dimmed so you may shine.
Silent nights.
The wind blows,
Gently stirring up leaves on the streets,
Rushing through the trees.
Even the animals stay quiet tonight.
Nearing midnight,
All is silent in the sky.
The golden light of the moon,
It lights up the sky tonight.
Streaks of golden light shine through the clouds,
The ones that submerge the light in a grey fog.
The stars still shine,
But it is as if they have stepped down,
Content to play the supporting roles.
The lead actress has taken her place,
Performing brilliantly,
All is silent and still.
On this summer night,
As we grow closer to the witching hour,
The golden light shines brighter,
With each passing second.
Time is fleeting.
Like a bird in the sky,
Flying away from us,
Leaving us behind.
The glowing golden light of the moon lights up the sky,
But in time it shall be the sun that shines
The moon and stars content to wait, just out of sight,
Until the night begins,
And the performance continues on.
All is still and quiet.
The light of the moon and stars bathing the world,
Painting it in the gentle colors of grey and gold.
The moon shines bright tonight. So that's the poem. I'm really glad I found it again. I was worried I had lost it because I couldn't find it on my Google docs. Turns out it was on my tablet. *shrugs* thanks for reading yet another one of my weird poems. 🙃
