Would you be able to explain what is going on?
Character Introductions (out of 20 pts) - You've read enough about them to be invested. Are the characters superficial? Are they distinct from one another (mannerisms, dialogue, signature, etc.)? Do they have depth or multiple layers? Are they complex? Can you discern the motivation behind their actions or any key personality traits?
Pacing (out of 5 pts.) - Can this be sped up or slowed down for a better flow?
Writing Style (out of 10 pts.) - Does it flow? Are the metaphors and extended analogies making sense? Is the writer including vivid detail or leaving some bits to the imagination in a skillful manner?

JUDGING ROUND TWO - MAINTENANCE
Goal: To read from last point to 2/3 of the bookPlot Dedication (out of 10 pts) - Has the plot been consistent? In other words, are you still reading about the same thing? Is it progressing as it should? Are there filler scenes that take away from progression? Has there been a climax or plot twist?
Conflict (out of 10 pts.) - By now, characters ought to be facing adversity, undergoing a challenge, or pursuing what they want. Are they doing that? If the road is too easy for them, the characters may not be growing as much as they potentially can.
Character Development (out of 10 pts.) - Have you seen changes in the character from experiences or maturity? Perhaps they made a mistake and wish to correct it, or they have changed their mind about something they were stubborn about before. Are they consistent in mindset and behavior? Are they still superficial or have they gotten deeper as individuals?
Writing Style (out of 5 pts.) - Is the quality of writing the same or better? Are the literary devices (metaphors, similes, analogies, other figures of speech, etc.) still making sense?
Grammar/Vocabulary (out of 5 pts.) - spelling and punctuation still intact?
Pacing (out of 5 pts.) - Are the events making chronological sense or are they too sudden/spaced out? Does it feel like filler or does it need filler?

Falling Action, Final Conclusion (out of 5 pts.) - Are the loose ends all tied up? Was it too fast or too short? Are some things skillfully left to the imagination if they are meant to be cliffhangers?
