Chapter 3
Isobel couldn't help but think of the Prince over the summer months. On the hotter days she would be found in the fields staring up into space and just fantasised about the Prince's wedding to Princess Katrina. He would be handsome dressed in royal finery and she would beautiful in a long flowing white dress.
One day as Isobel sat inside her hideout fletching her arrow shafts in the candle light; she looked up with a sigh to admire her achievements when a certain precious object didn't catch her eye.
The necklace the Prince had picked up months ago wasn't on the tree root it normally hung on. Her first guess was that it had been put somewhere else but when she couldn't find it amongst her other treasures, her only guess was that a certain person hadn't put it back when they last saw one another.
She threw everything in her hands down and stormed off towards Galhel, flicking her hood of her jacket up as she got closer to the kingdom. Last thing she wanted was for someone to recognise her.
The lower towns were busy with people rushing about with their busy lives. Most people were making animals pull carts further into the kingdom with their goods piled high for them to sell; so to blend into the background she helped an elderly man push his cart up the road and took the few coins he offered for her help.
The market seemed to the best place for Isobel to hang out in; she didn't dare get any closer to the castle in case she couldn't get out of the kingdom again. But as she walked around, she realised that there would be no reason why the Prince would really leave the castle. So she came up with a plan to tempt the Prince out of his little castle. She would cause enough trouble until he came to look for her.
So she did what she had always been good at; causing trouble. She took the money purses from people's belts, tipped over carts spilling the produce over the roads or pushing men into each other to start fights.
Soon the guards were coming in thick and fast to sort the problems out, Isobel would hang back in the shadows and watch as the guards tried to reclaim peace once more.
"This bread is mouldy," she shouted at the top of her voice which caused people to cry out and check their own loaves or dive back towards the bakery for their money back.
Soon enough, there were more problems than the guards could handle.
Happy that she caused chaos, Isobel slipped down a small gap in the buildings and waited for news that the Prince was coming out to sort problems.
The news came in the form of two guards who weren't happy they were out in the heat looking for a random person in a crowd. "Why do the thieves always come out of the woodwork on market day?" guard A asked with a sigh.
"I heard the other kingdoms are outlawing more people so there are going to be more hungry people around," guard B explained.
"This one seems to be good though, I heard the others say the royal guards are going to have to come out to help us."
"I hope not," guard B exclaimed, "We'll only hear about it later that we are incompetent at our jobs."
Smiling broadly Isobel threw back her hood and untucked her long hair from the back of her shirt and strode out into the market to assess her mayhem.
People were still shouting at each other, others were trying to get into fights while guards kept them apart and a few sat dazed on the side of the road.
