Steve Rogers POV
We left after they burned the coffin.
The coffin hadn't been big, a single trident with the picture of a Pegasus flying around it. It burned with a sea green flame. Not even Bruce could guess how they did that. It took ages to drag Thor a way from the wine cellar. Even then, he brought several kegs of the stuff back to the compound. Apparently it was even better then the wine from his father's cellar, and that's saying something.
We collected the weapons from the forge. They were extremely well done, Nat couldn't even tell the difference between her old and new guns.
A few days after, me and Natasha had been looking at a hologram of the earth. An assassin who went by the name of Nightingale had been killing people all across the globe.
"This is a nightmare." I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose.
"I've had better nightmares." Said Nat.
"Hey," Said Rhodey as he walked into the room, "That thing... just stopped doing what ever the hell it was doing."
Both me and Nat shared a look before running into the server room. Bruce and Rhodey were looking over the strange device worryingly.
"So, what we got?" Asked Nat as we ran into the room. Bruce shrugged.
"What ever signal it was sending finally crapped out."
I stared at the blue cylinders that circled the device, "I thought we bypassed the battery."
"We did. It's still plugged in. It.. it just stopped." Said Rhodey.
"Reboot it. Send the signal again."
"We don't even know what this thing is," Said Bruce as he typed away at a computer.
"Fury did. Just do it, please," Asked Nat as she pinched the bridge of her nose, tears threatening to fall down her cheeks, "Tell me, the second you get a signal. I wanna know who's on the other end of that thing."
Sensing someone behind me, I turned around, expecting to see Rocket or Thor. Instead, I came face to face with a woman. She had long, blond hair and a strange looking uniform with a star in the centre of it. Her voice was determined.
"Where's Fury?"
Everyone was quiet before Rhodey stepped forward, "And you are?"
"Captain Marvel. Where's Fury?"
"That is not a illegible answer. Who are you and how did you manage to get in?"
Captain Marvel's fists started to glow and swirl around, similar to how Wanda's powers did. We all stared at it in shock.
"I'm going to ask you once again. Where is Fury?"
"Dust. Like half of everyone else in this damned universe." Said Bruce.
Captain Marvel froze in her tracks the fire at her fists disappearing, "Oh. Okay, then, who are you and why do you have his Pager?"
"My name is Captain Steve Rogers. One of his agents found it and gave it to us." I said.
"Captain Carol Danvers. Wait... aren't you that guy in those old World War 2 comics? The really cheesy and crap ones?"
"Hold on a sec, you've got comics?" Exclaimed Bruce.
I sighed, "Yes, I am. Captain America, at your service."
"They said you'd died, crashing into some ice."
