Friday, was the day that I was officially asked out by Isaac Morrison.
Its Saturday now and I'm at the mall with Dawn. Amy was sick and couldn't go ( cant believe she actually got sick from sitting outside ) , so I made sure to remember to buy her a teddy bear while I was there.
"Well, here we are! " exclaims Dawn, excitedly getting out of the car." Please, don't make this anymore painful for me then it already is." I grumble. I hate the mall and the only reason why I agreed to come was because I needed a dress for the date that Isaac had asked me out on. He hadn't told me where we were going because he says its a surprise but I actually think its because he didn't know himself. " Oh don't be such a sour puss, this is going to be fun!" screeches Dawn. I groan. The excitement in her voice proves that this will end up bad.
We walk through the doors and a blast of cold air hits me. " Oh dear Lord please give me strength." I whisper to myself as I look out onto the endless stretch of indoor shops and people. Lots and lots of people. A small sigh of approval from Dawn as she sees me staring, mouth agape.
But I'm not staring in shock and joy. No, I'm staring in shock and horror as she pulls me towards my least favorite store; Dillard's. " Come on Janice! I know you hate it but Dillard's has great prices!!" I claw at my arm trying to break free of her grasp, and skidding my shoes on the floor so they make a loud squeaking noise." Suck it up buttercup " says Dawn with a triumphant smile as we enter Dillard's dress department. I sigh a long heaving sound that's more scraggly then breathy.
" What do you think of this one?" says Dawn holding up a long turquoise dress that reaches the floor. " Ew no, I don't look good in turquoise. " I accuse. " OK well, how about this one? " Dawn pulls out a cute green dress that compliments my curves ( which are little ) and reaches my shins. " Um its cute, but its still too long." Dawn sighs " Your hopeless". I scowl, walking over to the other side of the rack and pulling out a shorter purple one with a glitzy top. " Er why don't we keep looking. Good try though." she replies, I roll my eyes and continue our search.
Its a while before we choose a suitable dress. We end up going to three different stores picking up like twenty dresses only to put them back down again. But finally I see the one I'm looking for.
Isaac
I'm at the skate park with my best friend Lance. He has been my bro since my mom died in the car accident twelve years ago.
" So Janice huh? " He asks, Lance has lived here longer than me plus he was pretty much the reason why I moved here, and of course he knows Janice, he goes to school with her. Also because she fractured his foot not to long ago. " Yep " I reply bluntly, " Ha well good luck buddy, she is a handful" we both laugh at this. I cant remember the last time we talked about girls but it felt like forever.
Janice
" This is it! This is the one!!" squeals Dawn at the sight of me dressed in the beautiful white dress with an hour glass waist and sweetheart neck line, it was longer in the back and reached my knees. It was gorgeous! " I do love it " I reply, dazed at the sight of the girl in the mirror who I swore I have never seen before in my life. Someone who wasn't normal, but extremely cute. I turn in a full circle and Dawn giggling a sweet bubbly noise that is too contagious to resist.
Dawn runs to the shoe department and is back in a flash with a beautiful pair of white converse. My heart bursts, " You NEED these Janice. You just absolutely need them!" she exclaims. I hold them up to myself and am so surprised by what I see that I nearly drop the shoes because whats on the toe of it is a ten dollar price tag. I squeal so happy that I almost forget to change out of the dress when I go to check out.
When we are done with shopping we grab a Starbucks coffee ( like we need anymore caffeine ) and head to the car. " Alright all there is left to do is call Isaac and tell him you will definitely be there Friday night" I stop and remember that he never gave me his phone number " I cant He never gave me his number. Dawn what do we do?!" I almost start to panic when she laughs and says "Nothing a little washable spray paint cant accomplish." I look at her with knit eyebrows. " washable spray paint?" I question doubtfully.
" I think I have some in the back of my car..." she lifts up the trunk and sure enough she has almost every gag prank known to man. invisible ink, whoopee cushion, washable spray paint, and yes water balloons. " Holy cow Dawn! What the heck!?" I ask alarmed " it was my brothers car and he forgot to take out all his junk so now its mine." I run a finger across the dusty toys and feel giddy with excitement. " OK whats his address Janice?" asks also excited Dawn " 9936 East ParkVeiw Place " I reply. She laughs very cackle like and we drive quickly not fully believing what we are about to do.
