The voice that had called my name was low and inhuman, with a very demon sounding tone."Evil" was my first thought but it was more then that. It was cold and hollow with no feeling, except maybe pain and sorrow.
It chilled me to the bone. Every trace of warmth fleeing my body. A cold hand touches my shoulder and I move quickly, trying to get away from the hand of the horrid voice.
I turn around to find no one there. No place the voice could have come from, and no person that the hand could have belonged to.
I'm running now, " GET OUT" the voice says, and I don't have to be told twice. I close the bookshelf door and slide down the wall. Tucking my knees to my chest and shivering badly. It all happened so quickly but it was all to traumatic.
Isaac is staring at me, apparently he was there when I ran out in a frenzy. He bends down next to me with a look of regret in his eyes. " I'm sorry " he says, but I'm gone.
Run! Don't stop, Don't look behind you, just RUN! I am up the stairs and locking the basement door behind me. Whatever was in that room wanted to hurt me and it was in HIS house, so I locked him in also.
* Banging * " Janice open the door!" he says. I slowly walk backwards and Lance grabs my shoulders, I scream bloody murder.
The door is ripped of its hinges and it falls to the floor. " How the HECK?!" I'm panicked now and want nothing more but to leave this hell hole.
I break out of Lance's grasp and run to the front door. To my surprise they don't come after me. Finally LET ME LEAVE! I try to open it but its locked so I run to the back door...locked. They are coming up the stairs.
I look around, I don't have time to try and find another door that might lead out. I see my phone and snatch it on my way to a random room then lock myself in. Quickly I barricade the door with a chair and find a window big enough for me to fit through. ( finally my luck has changed ) I unlatch it and I'm out.
Free, goodness gracious its amazing what actual sunlight can do to you. The chilling cold gone from my body and I gladly welcome the warmth back in. I take a deep breath and run to the car that took us to this nightmare.
Wait us? DAWN?! I curse myself, how could I have forgotten?!. I turn on my phone and it says Dawn's number, quickly I flip through the messages hoping she is safe.
Dawn:Hello? Janice?!
Me: Hey! where are you?!
I'm practically in tears,
Dawn:Janice! I'm at my house, Lance took me home last night, where are you?"
I heave a sigh of gratitude, for once I don't hate Lance completely.
Me: I'm still here they locked me in the basement and I found this room and It was horrid but I'm out now...
The words form on the screen bringing back the chilling voice that spoke to me.
Dawn: Janice slow down...
she texts but I stop paying attention cause the front door opens then closes.
Me:Look Dawn I have to talk later.
and I turn it off. I lay my phone on the hood of the car and turn around.
Its Isaac of course" What do you want?" I say, my voice quivering. I couldn't help being afraid, I saw him rip off that door." Please let me explain.." he is only inches away now. " Get away from me." I say, trying to be more bold then I feel. He looks hurt but I don't feel bad, he locked me in a basement that was freaking haunted." Please..." he keeps looking at me like he wants me to understand but I don't, I don't understand why he does the things he does, or how he makes me feel the things I feel, or even what he is.
He keeps getting closer and finally I need to ask " What are you?" first little more then a whisper but then I'm full blown yelling " What are you?!" he slams his fist on the side of the car creating a huge dent, I'm still angry with him and wont give in to this " temper tantrum" hes throwing. "That's not an answer!" I scream.
Isaac pushes me up against the side of the car, breathing shallow and angry " Do you really want to know what I am?!" he bellows and I nod refusing to let fear slip through me " I am something that can rip you to shreds right now and not have a second thought about it." He says through gritted teeth. I feel my heart pounding in my chest and never have I ever felt this close to death in my entire life.
He eases himself off of me and I get into the car grabbing the keys in the passenger seat, driving away from him I try not to look back, I take a quick glance beside my better judgment and see Isaac run into the woods, I don't look again, instead I keep my eyes on the road.
Isaac
I could have killed her, right then and there. Never have I wanted anything more then to feel her blood on my hands, but I some how didn't kill her, every instinct wanted me to corner her up against the car and feel her bones rattle as I pressed myself to her and touch her lips as I kissed her, I wanted her to feel pain but at the same time I wanted to protect her from the dangerous things of the world. Except that would mean I would have to protect her from myself also.
Janice
I get home and run upstairs. Its five in the afternoon on a Saturday yet I take a shower. I'm in and out of the bathroom in ten minutes. I just cant seem to keep my head from wandering into the memories of earlier today, so I start up my old DELL laptop and look up legends/myths.
Several websites pop up and I click the first one. It reads: Legends and myths originated from early cultures such as Greek and viking. They were used to describe things that they didn't understand. Such as Greek Gods who the people believed controlled everything in there world because they had no other explanation... There was more but I could tell that this wasn't what I was looking for.
Then I typed in Beast and monsters, and I found the website I was looking for. Monsters and Beasts are everywhere hidden from our world. Vampires,Wherewolves,Sirens,SeaCreatures and more have been living amongst us for thousands of years and we are just beginning to scratch the surface. This website was a bunch of conspiracies that were probably made by some thirty two year old who lived at his mom's but I needed answers, and at the time I was desperate to get them.
I'm drying my hair as I read trying to figure out what exactly Isaac was. Until I see the most likely answer; Vampire. The traits of vampire fit almost perfectly. The site says Vampires are the best at blending in since they look like a human and can mix into crowded cities with ease, in fact further studies show that vampires may indeed be able to walk in daylight. It is not a fact but it is a critical piece of evidence so that we know to prepare ourselves from these monsters. A few signs of someone being a Vampire are the obvious lust for blood Isaac had said that he could tear me to shreds if he wanted to there huge amount of strength When Isaac had torn the door of its hinges and there speed Isaac had chased us down when we tried to escape and he wasn't even breathing hard after he had caught me.
I lie on my bed with these thoughts swirling around, I believe fully and completely that Isaac is a Vampire even if I never believed in them before. Yet when I fell asleep there was a voice in the back of my head telling me I'm utterly wrong.
