"Are you gonna keep living on a lie, Jennifer? You need to tell him." Beverly warns me. "It's for his and your benefit."
"I don't know how to tell him. I don't wanna just be like, 'hey, I cheated on you with your best friend Stanley." I say looking down at my hands. "I just couldn't. And I won't." I say getting up.
"Want me to go with you? We can just walk up to him and say it." She says looking at Richie as he swings on a swing with Eddie.
"I don't want to break up him. I'm in literal love with him and I shouldn't have done it. But I did." I frown.
Beverly sits up off the playground stairs and holds out her hand.
   "Now or never."
I take it and get up nervously, walking over to the swings.
"Hey, Richie," I say to him.
He turns his head from talking to Eddie.
   "Hey, hot stuff." He smirks.
"Richie, I told you to stop that." I giggle.
  "What's up?" He asks me.
"So...uh." I play with my hands.
"Can we kiss?"
"I mean, why are you asking? You can just kiss me when you want. I don't bite." He laughs.
I laugh too. "But sure, of course, my lovely girlfriend."
My heart drops with he calls me that. I'm not lovely. I broke his trust.
I lean in and peck his lips, leaning back quickly after Beverly, elbows my side of my chest.
"Why did you move so quickly?" Richie asks concerned. "Are you okay?"
"I have to tell you something. But somewhere private." I say quietly.
"Sure, let's go over there." He points to the back of the restrooms.
We walk to the back of the restrooms quietly, no one saying a word.
"Why are you being so quiet?" He asks jokingly.
We stop in the back and stand facing each other.
"It's just...hard to say, you know?" I say hurtfully.
"Are you okay, babe?" He asks, holding my hands.
I slip my hands away, looking at him.
He bites his lips and looks down.
"Can I do something one last time?" I ask him, walking closer.
"What do you mean 'one last time.' You're scaring me, I can't lose you." He says.
I place my hands on his face and press our lips together.
I let go, but he kisses me again, this time no peck.
I let him do it, signaling this is my last time for me and Richie kissing.
Because what im gonna say next...he won't be happy.
He pulls me closer, him taking off his glasses and pushing me against the wall.
I run my hands through his hair, breaking the kiss forcefully.
"Richie, I cheated on you." I blurt out.
He let's go, looking at me with hurt in his eyes. "W-with who?"
   "Stanley," I mumble.
He gives me a dirty glare, picking up his glasses. "So I kissed you for no reason?"
"No, I just knew that after telling you this, you would break up with me. So I wanted us to kiss one more time. And I know, I didn't actually do it with him but he kissed me and-"
"He kissed you? You didn't kiss him?" He asks me.
   "Yeah." I frown.
"You didn't cheat on me then. Cheating means you did it. Not someone else." He says, a small smile on his face.
   "So I didn't cheat?" I ask.
"No. You didn't." He says. "Which means we aren't breaking up."
"Good." I smile, wrapping my arms around his neck and pecking his lips.
