As the night progressed it was quiet, there wasn't much activity. I went to the kitchen and fixed a cup of milk before settling down with a candle and a book. I looked around the dim living room, the power had been out for hours now. I thumbed through the pages, hearing thunder rumbling in the distance.
I heard a small noise, when I went to check the tree outside the kitchen window had a branch banging on it. The man's words echoing in my mind, "If you survive the night." "I really need to get a dog..." I said to myself.
I could hear like a ticking noise, I lengthened my neck looking around, but nothing. I started to read again. Out of the darkness a hand wrapped over my mouth stifling a scream, I kicked knocking over the lamp next to my chair. I opened my mouth then bit down on the fingers.
I heard a yell behind me and I jumped out of my chair the moment the grasp released. I spun to see someone in a mask reach forward to grab me. I ducked backwards, I steadied myself and swung at what I could only imagine was a man. A low growl escaping his mouth, I ducked and did a low sweeping kick trying to knock him off balance.
He stepped back picking up my couch lamp, he aimed and fired straight at me. As it collided with my body I stumbled back. He charge and ran me right into the back wall knocking the wind right out of me. I coughed a bit of blood due to the impact. I fell to the floor when he stepped away, he proceeded to kick me and my vision started to blur. More blood came running from my mouth, I coughed and tried to stand, but every attempt was met with impact.
I started to black out when I heard a crash like a window breaking. My eyes closed ever so slowly as another figure was in my living room, I think they are fighting. My world swirls to black and I fall over on the floor unconscious.
Pain, my whole body is in pain. My head is throbbing, my breathing is like knives stabbing me, my arms ache, and my legs feel like they were run over. I blink slowly, the light hurts, I try to peer at my surroundings through just slits. I bring my hand to my forehead to see bruises covering my knuckles, and as I look down I see that is the state of the majority of my body. I go to sit up wincing and just as fast there are hands on my shoulders attempting to pull me down.
"Sara you need to rest." That voice, my eyes snap open protesting the light. I flung my head around and try to get away as fast as possible but my body not responding. Being overwhelm with pain I settle for a scared look and quick breaths. "Sara, it's okay, please you need to lay down." I shook my head slowly, and he sighed, "Fine, be in pain, I can't feel it. You'd think that you would be a bit more open to the suggestions of your savior."
I blinked trying to wrap my mind around the previous nights events, and everything started with this man. "How does he think that I could possibly..." My head pains pulling me out of my thoughts. His head reaches out as wince. I force myself up but the pain overwhelms my whole system and black out again.

I broke through the window a brick colliding with his body. I climbed through just in time to see Sara slipping from reality. Her attacker swung at me missing by a hair, I swung back making contact with his jaw. He staggered back holding his jaw moving it from side to side the mask on the floor. He glared at me, and ran to the kitchen. I pursed and found my face being filled with flour from a canister.
By the time I could see he was gone. I looked around, but he was completely out of sight. I walked back into the living room to see Sara out cold on the floor, I knelt down beside her. "I thought you would have taken the hint foolish woman..." I brushed a bloody piece of hair from her face. Her face was covered in bruises, I was a few seconds too late. I picked her up and walked outside, I placed her into my Pontiac g8 and headed to the mansion.
I watched as she began to stir, I bandaged her arm, forehead, and her rib cage. I was all but certain that she had multiple broken bones. As she sat up I placed my hands on her shoulders attempting to keep her laying, but she had nothing of that. She was a very determined woman.
"Sara you need to rest." I watched as panic came over her instantly, she was scared out of her mind. She was shaking, I could see she wanted to move, but she lacked the strength and body control to do so. I put my hands out, "Sara, It's okay, please you need to lay down."
I could see the refusal in her eyes, "Fine, be in pain, I can't feel it. You'd think that you would be a bit more open to the suggestions of your savior." I was getting irritated. She was acting ungrateful, I hung around even after she made it clear I wasn't welcome, and I saved her wretched neck too.
I stepped forward and she began to stand, I watched as she fell to the floor my arms reaching out but not being fast enough. This woman was stubborn, but I wasn't sure I would be able to get through to her. She just didn't seem to want anyone to intervene on her behalf, she is acting like she has something to prove. I pick her up placing her back on the bed, this time attempting to put restraints on her so that she can not cause any more harm to herself when she walks up. "Maxwell you got your work cut out for yourself..." I silently spoke to myself.
