"Please stay on hold while we transfer your call." Says the electronic voice over the phone.
I wish it will hurry up. I'm trying to win passes to go see the maze runner as its filming. I've been in love with the maze runner series the moment the first book came out and I've never stopped loving it. I'm super excited that it's now becoming a movie but I'm not excited for all the 'movie greenies' that will be joining the fandom. I mean like seriously. Read the book!!!
Anyways if I am the 48th caller I win not only 2 passes but I also get to hang out with the cast the whole time and I get some merchandise from the actual movie. The thought gives me chills.
"Hello what's your name?" Says a voice on my phone and I hear it echo on the radio station. This is it. The moment I've been waiting for.
"Umm Emma Starling?" I say.
"You sure? Don't don't sound too sure." Says the male host.
"Yes I'm sure. Am I the 48th caller?" I say, getting to the point as quickly as I can.
"No I'm sorry you're the 47th." The man says and my heart plummets to my stomach.
"Oh. Okay. Thanks anyway..."
I'm about to hang up when he quickly says "I'm just kidding! Congrats! You won!"
I scream as loud as I can, gaining looks from other drivers since I'm stopped at a red light. "NO! YOURE KIDDING!!!" I scream.
"I'm not! I take it you're a big fan of the books? Or maybe Dylan O'Brien perhaps."
"Don't get me started! Thank you so much!"
The radio station goes to commercials and the man asks for my information so I can receive the stuff I've won. I pull off the highway and drive to my condo. I can't believe it. I won. I actually bloody won. This is insane.
I unlock the door of the condo that I share with my best friend and the smell of chicken nuggets wafts over to me. Of course, Julie's favourite.
"Julie you're home!" I shout and run into the kitchen where I knew Julie would be cooking.
"Yeah... Why are you acting crazy?" She says nervously, knowing that my mental "fangirl" breakdowns can lead to bad things. "Not that you're not normally crazy-because you are-but why are you being so extra crazy?"
"I WON TWO PASSES TO THE MAZE RUNNER SET AND HANG OUT WITH THE CAST AND SOME MERCHANDISE FROM THE MOVIE!!!" I scream.
"Wait. That was you?" She asks stifling a laugh. "I was sitting here thinking what crazy lunatic won those passes but now it all makes sense considering it was you."
"Oh shut up." I say, pushing her lightly. "And YEAH I WON!" I scream, unable to control myself.
"You're taking me right?" Julie gets serious, crossing her arms like she always does.
"OF COURSE ARRRG I CANT BELIEVE I WON!" I pause to breathe then add as an after thought, "Dylan O'Brien is starting in the movie."
That was it. She screams just as loudly as me and runs over to me and I hug her. We start jumping up and down squealing like pigs in excitement. Julie is as obsessed with Dylan O'Brien as I am with The Maze Runner and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.
"The stuff should be arriving in 5 days and we leave in a week." I recite what the radio host told me.
"Awesome! I can't wait!" She screams.
"now let's eat. I'm starving." I say and Julie laughs, taking some of the now burnt chicken nuggets out of the pan and placing them on two plates. We walk over to the couch and sit down, turning on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Our usual after work/school routine.
Suddenly Julie gasps loudly causing me to turn to her in alarm. "We need new clothes! What are we going to wear!" She exclaims, clasping her hand over her mouth.
I glare at her "Julie I thought you chocked!" I pause taking in what she just said. "And yeah, maybe we can go shopping tomorrow? After work."
"Perfect!" She says and continues to eat. I smile at her. This is going to be the best thing that has ever happened to me. Who knows. Maybe it will even change my life forever.
