Over the course of the next week, Stone had convinced Mia to move in permanently. She agreed and only because Roman was having the time of his life. Never has he had so many people giving him undivided attention at his beck and call. It helped too because Mia had been battling morning, afternoon and night sickness.
I cant wait to find out what I'm having because this shit here...
She crossed campus on her way to the coffee shop on the edge of the property before heading back up the mountain.
Mia sits down with her laptop and goes over more floor plans for the daycare. The more she listened to Stone's ideas and enthusiasm for the new venture the more she allowed it to become her dream as well. A daycare director...she liked the sound of that a lot.
Suddenly a small woman with greying hair came in the shop alone. Her hair was pulled in a bun. Her eyes sharp and she had a small limp. She orders her drink and looks around the shop for a seat.
"May I sit here?" she asked Mia. The younger woman looks up at the older and nodded her head. "Thank you. Not too many kind young women these days." The woman smiles.
Mia smiles back. Her energy is infectious. Almost like it was just the two of them in the bustling shop. "You remind me so much of my grandmother back home." she couldn't resist.
"If I got a dollar for every time I heard that, I'd have..." the woman stopped. "One dollar." The pair let out a laugh. A moment of silence and then the air turned serious. "You look troubled."
"I am. Mrs..."
"Call me Nana Elle."
Her eyes are filled with wonder and love for this man. Nana Elle notices this. "You love him."
Mia's smile faded. "And that's where I'm having issues Nana. I found out that my son's father is my extremely wealthy boss. But before I found out, I got pregnant for him...again. And during that, I really did start to fall for him. He's everything and more than I ever dreamed of. Why am I telling you this?" she dabs her eyes.
"Because you need someone to listen. Someone who understands."
"Maybe so." Mia rubs her belly unconsciously. "So, I'm pregnant and I resign from my job as his secretary. He convinces me to get in school and accepted my past...and everything is happening so fast. But I was enjoying the ride."
"What changed?"
"As long as we were in my apartment with my son, everything was okay. So close-knit and cozy. It took me a minute to get used to him being there almost all the time with our son and helping me."
"So again, what changed?"
"We moved into his mansion up in the mountains. I didn't have a choice really. Our son is adjusting so well, and the helping staff is so awesome. His parents are coming for the holidays and I just don't feel like I'm measuring up."
Nana Elle smiles. "You have absolutely nothing to worry about. They're gonna love you. I feel it."
"How?"
"Because you're humble. And you worry about them liking you...for you. He loves you and your baby in spite of everything you think. He sees the you you don't see and falls for it every day. Everybody else will support you."
"Thank you. Thank you so much." Mia dabs her eyes again. Nana Elle stands up to dust herself off.
"I must take my leave now. But you just think about what I said and when you meet his family, I promise it won't be bad at all. I guarantee it." she leaves the table on that note.
