She made it to her doctors appointment with ten minutes to spare and went and quickly signed herself in. They didn't look busy considering the empty waiting room and was surprised her insurance even afforded a place this decent, but hey she couldn't complain. Of course she was knew so she filled out all the fun paperwork such parents names, her birthday, and of course her reasoning for being here. She turned her paper work back in and like a saving grace "Rachel Berry?" A sweet voice called back. She stood up straightening out her dress and walking towards the women. "Hi there sweetheart." The older women said and opened the door wider "come on back. We will be in room three today." She said walking down the hall and opening the door and Rachel had a seat on the exam table. "Thank you." She said quietly and looked around the room filled with posters of the breasts and babies and of course hundreds of pregnant women. That mental freak out came again. "Your not pregnant" she said to herself what felt like a hundred times. "Okay so I'm Carol." She smiled sweetly at Rachel. "Okay so all the fun questions were answered on your paper work, but tell me how are you sweetie? You can't be over what seventeen? Eighteen?" She smiled and began typing on the computer. "Yeah.. yeah I'm eighteen." She said twiddling her thumbs and playing with her fingers. Anything to distract her. "Oh fun I have a son about your age." She smiled trying to make conversation. "Oh.. really?" She said trying to make light chit chat as well. "Yeah! He's awesome! So what brings you here today Rachel?" She said flipping through her paperwork. Rachel immediately felt her cheeks flush red from how embarrassed she was to even say the P word in front of someone else. "Well.. I'm pretty sure I'm.. well.. umm." Carol still flipping through the paper work. "Ah pregnant is the word your looking for huh?" She said chuckling. "I was a young mom Rachel and I know how it feels and I know what your thinking and I promise you've always got a friend in me." She smile over at Rachel and grabbed her hand and gently rubbed it. Rachel wouldn't lie it felt nice. She barely knew this women and already thought she could rely on her! "So when was your last period?" She said as she turned towards the computer and started typing. "Umm about seven or eight weeks ago." She said trying to remember that far back. "Okay and when was the last time you had sex?" Rachel felt her cheeks burn and she couldn't help but feel embarrassed. "Um about six to seven weeks ago?" She said questionably as she tried to block that night out. "Okay well I think you might be far enough along to be able to see if their is a baby in there without having to use the wand." She said and began pulling the machine over. She didn't want to know what she meant by wand or what the wand meant and in fact she didn't want to know anymore about any of this. "Is it okay to pull up your dress?" She said and Rachel nodded as she helped pull it up to her breasts and then Carol covered her with a blue towel and she took some of the gel "I'm sorry this is a little cold." She said squirting it on Rachel's stomach and began moving the probe around her stomach and looking for anything. After a couple seconds a heartbeat filled the room. "Ahh their it is.. strong as can be?" Carol said smiling at Rachel while Rachel tried to hide her frown. "Healthy and fast! Just how we like it! She hit a couple buttons and moved it around and a little blob popped up on the screen and Rachel couldn't lie. She felt a little happiness inside of her knowing that there was finally a confirmed answer to this, but a little sadness knowing their was a human being inside of her. "Wow" was all she could make out and it truly was a wow experience. "Is it to early to tell the gender?" She said and she knew it was but she just wanted to make sure. "unfortunately, yes but it looks like you are about seven or so weeks along, but you can do a blood test and find out at thirteen weeks." She smiled and began moving around and getting more angles " would you like some pictures to take home?" She smiled and took the towel and began wiping her stomach off. " yes please!" She smiled and Rachel would be lying if she said she wasn't sad that the baby wasn't on the screen anymore. She actually enjoyed looking at him or her. Carol walked out and grabbed the pictures and put them in an envelope and handed them to Rachel. "You are all set mama." The name made Rachel shiver a little. What a foreign word to her and how weird it sounded to even hear it. "Make an appointment with the receptionist and we will see you when you are twelve weeks along." She smiled and began cleaning off the table "thank you for being so nice to me.. it means a lot." Rachel said in a soft voice and smiled at her. "Anytime sweetheart, see you soon!" She said and with that Rachel walked out of the room and to the desk and scheduled a twelve week appointment. She walked out of the office and out to her car and got inside and couldn't help but smile. "Wow.. this is really happening.." she said out loud and opened the envelope with the sonogram pictures in it and she couldn't help but smile again. "Wow." She said again. She looked at the clock In her car and it read four- fifteen. "That took a long time." She said out loud and buckled herself in and opened up her phone quickly replying to her texts. A quick love you to her dads and an I'm okay text to Kurt and Mercedes and a thank you to Tina for sending her notes from math. This was it, this was this moment she had been waiting for and the moment where she had to decide what she wanted to do and if she was being honest, she had absolutely no clue what the next step would be? To tell Finn? Her dads? Mercedes? To just leave town and never come back? To give the baby up for adoption? To never tell Finn? To just drop out? To.. to what? She didn't have a single clue other than she had no idea as to what she was doing. I mean regardless of how she felt or what the situation is she has to tell Finn.. right? Or does he never need to know? Maybe he's not the fathering type? Or maybe he is? Rachel couldn't think anymore, she just wanted to go home. She took her drive home, but not in any rush, it gave her time to think and clear her head. Of course she eventually pulled into her drive way and she sat there for a second before shutting off and getting out of her car. She walked inside and set her keys and phone down on the counter along with the envelope of pictures and just took a deep breath. This was her life now. She needed to think about her next steps wisely as she felt like this wouldn't be good news everyone was waiting for. She quickly took out her phone and decided in that moment what her next move would be and she could only hope that it didn't blow up in her face.
