(Dear Reader, first, thank you so much for checking out my story! Second and most importantly, this story is based off one of my favorite songs, so If you would like to listen to this song while reading, the song is called "Soldier, Poet, King" by The Oh Hellos. Thank you and you may now continue reading!)
Two months, Six days and two hours. This is how long I have now been on the road, travelling by myself (Other than my trusty horse, Rapunzel of course). It's been so long now that the days have began to collide, all just feeling like one, long, restless day.
My stallion was obviously getting more exhausted as time went on, so I decided to stop at a near by village. I pulled out the map out of the side of my bag, taking a quick glance. Rezelle, the place circled on my map in a crimson red pen. This is the place I was assigned to go, to rescue a beautiful princess (As I was told). If I am honest, Princesses has never been my cup of tea. Yes, they are eye catching and extravagant, but I never get the feeling that people say I will one day get: "You will feel like the world only resolves all around her! When she's around its like watching butterflies in a field!". I have freed around twenty princesses, but never felt that lovey dovey...junk.
The nearest city seemed to be Dartendale. I was told never to stop there, but there has been multiple times where I have taken quick breaks at local places that were known to be "Dangerous", which ends up being a nice, small village. I put the map back in the small, saddle pocket and had Rapunzel continue on.
As we made our way to Dartendale I thought about how this all started, how I go to different cities and provinces, salvaging princesses in need of help. I've helped women stuck in towers, dungeons, towers with dragons, pretty much any situation you can think of. It all started with my great grandfather. He became of the king of a city called Burtang, which is where I was also born. he then had my grandfather go out, saving the poor, crippled and helpless. It then moved on throughout my family, which then to me. I also have two older brothers, Brice and Edward. Edward, of course is the most important in the family, as the oldest regularly gets the most important job which is travelling to different cities, fighting crime and being the hero (I get jealous of him a lot). The second oldest, Brice, gets the job of helping the poor and hungry, buying them food and giving them the supplies they need. Then their's me, only save about three princesses a year (four, if i'm lucky) and half the time, just have to get her out of the tower and get her back home safely. I would trade my job for anything, My job is more boring than it sounds.
I look up and see that I am now approaching Dartendale's silver, iron gate. I feel a smile grow across my face; I love exploring new towns.
