I woke up not long ago, after I must have fallen back asleep. I don't exactly remember much when I was awake in that insufficient amount time, other than Icarus, the man that apparently helped me out of the lake.

It was dark out, and the moonlight was shining through the window which was located on the wall that the bed faced, so the dim light hit my face delicately. I enjoy the morning, but my mother always said she enjoyed seeing my face at night. She always said the way the glow of the moon hit my face brought out my best features. I personally don't enjoy my features that my mother loved so dearly, her favorite being my eyes.

I miss seeing my mother at nights, but I still pray to her every night to make it feel like she was still here with me. She died when I was just 6, but I still remember her clearly, and the night I got the news of her passing. I wasn't there when she perished, but I was told while retrieving food and water for my family, she was captured and drowned by a group of Cambions (Half human, half demon, its complicated). Her drowning is why I have a phobia of swimming, or going into any bed of water in general. I don't want to suffocate the same way my mother did, or my father would be devastated.

As I lay on the bed, rapped in silk blankets, I can overhear a noise coming from the other side of the wall where my head lays. I recalled that Icarus said his room was just on the other side of the wall, in case I ever needed anything. I assume that he is still awake, and I twirl myself into the blankets, trying to at least get a little more slumber.

As I try to sleep, the sounds from the other side of the wall seem to be getting heavy, making me sit up in slight worry. I start to tune in to the noises that were coming from Icarus' room.

Hyperventilating?...

I slowly get out of the comforting bed and quietly making my way towards Icarus' room. I finally build up courage to knock on his door gently

"Icarus?.." There was no response. I called out his name again.

"Icarus?"

I slowly open the door as it creaked. I see Icarus pulling at his hair, his knees hugged up to his chest. Tears were streaming down his face and dropping onto the blankets around him. He wasn't okay.

I quickly made my way over to him. I don't care if I don't know him, He has a special place in my heart, and seeing him like this breaks me.

"Hey, hey, your okay-" I pull him into a gentle hug, placing on of my hands on his head as his hands removed from his hair. Soft sobs come from his lips as he rests his head on my chest.  my hand now gently resting onto the back of his head near his neck.

I play with his hair gently as I try to get him to settle down. A feeling started to grow in my stomach and chest. I feeling of safety and warmth. A feeling of love.

Icarus was special to me, and not as a friend.
