The light of the sword blinded me, causing me to stumble off the dragon. Luckily, I wasn't too far from the ground, and landed with a roll. The blinding white in my eyes eventually faded, and I could see Icarus running over to me.

"Charles! Bloody hell, are you okay?" he kneels before me, checking for any wounds and scratches.

I reassure him, sitting up "I'm fine...but what the hell was that?" I take Icarus' hand as he offers to help me up.

"I was chanting some things I learned from my father..just kind of a blessing thing I guess." His eyes travel to where the beast was, and as I follow his gaze, I realize that the dragon has completely disintegrated. There was absolutely not trace of the beast, other than something that catches my attention in the middle of the field. It seemed to be a scroll, rapped in a cyan blue ribbon. Icarus continues his explanation "I had no clue it would do that...the only other time I used it was when my father fell ill..but after it didn't work, I assumed it was just a faux."

I'm listening to Icarus, but the scroll in the center of the field is taking up most of my concentration. I walk towards the center of the range with caution, in case of any traps. I pick up the scroll, unwrapping the blue silky ribbon. The ribbon disappears into dust in my hand, seeping through the spaces of my fingers. I slowly unravel the scroll, my eyes dancing all around the page at a language that I do not understand.

"What in the hell is that?" Icarus' voice startles me a bit as his hand reaches over to trace a finger over the ancient looking writing.

"I have no clue..can you read it?"

"God no, this looks like a child scribbled all over the page."

I roll up the scroll, gesturing with the hand i'm holding it with, as I turn around to look at Icarus "Well...It's either good or bad...but either way, I have to find out what it is."

Icarus rubs his perfectly clean chin- I can't even spot one stubble on his chin. "Well, in that case, you may as well stay a little longer, I can help you." He points a fingers towards the west side of the village. "There's a library that's been in this town for as long as I can remember, I'm sure there has to be some books older than my father in there. It is plausible we can find a book to translate the scroll."

I nod, fiddling with the scroll in my hand "It could possibly have to do with the dragon as well, do you have a guide to dragons or anything in there?"

He chuckles, his lips parting to show his sparkling teeth "Unless you count the children's fairy tales."

I giggle, studying Icarus' face "Anything works, Icarus."

"Well...first I think you need a shower" He rubs his thumb on my cheek, then showing the dirt that has rubbed off on it. I laugh, comprehending that i'm completely covered in filth.

"Good idea."
