America's POV~ The ball starts in 3 hours so my old maids Mary, Lucy, and Anne come rushing in through the door. "Oh miss, we've missed you!" "Mary, just call me America." I hug all of them and we're suddenly in a big teary mess. After we calm down, Lucy begins working on my hair making it into a French braid.

Anne starts on my makeup. "Hold still and close your eyes" she says as she begins to put on my eyeliner.

Mary comes back with a clear bag that's carrying my dress. She opens the garment bag and pulls out a beautiful periwinkle blue off the shoulder gown.

I go downstairs and make my way to the great room. When I enter I immediately hug Marlee. "I've missed you so much Mar" I say with a big smile. "I've missed you too! After you left, the palace got so gloomy and it's still like that. Kriss yells at anyone who gets in her way." To me it seems like the palace staff isn't very eager about Kriss being queen. Nor am I.
The ball starts when the announcer says "ladies and gentlemen, Princess Nicoletta and Prince Luis of Italy and your King Maxon and Queen Kriss. Everyone watches as they descend the staircase. Once they reach the bottom, Maxon catches my eye as Kriss sends me a death glare. Nicoletta comes towards me "ciao America mi sei mancato penso ancora che dovresti essere stato tu" she says with a huge bear hug. "Nicoletta! anche tu mi sei mancato. tutti qui me lo hanno detto. le cose sono successe per un motivo" I say smiling.
I leave the room and Maxon runs after me. "America are you okay?" He says seeming worried about me. I turn around and say " I'm fine, I just need to prepare for the songs" he stares down at me intently then reaches for my cheek. He leans in and so do I. He closes the distance between us with a gentle yet passionate kiss. Full of need, want, and regrets. I pull back first and say " Maxon we can't do this."
