9:15 am"You don't have to call, it's okay girl, 'cause imma be alright tonight..." I sang lowly with Usher while applying my makeup. Nyla's graduation was supposed to start in a little less than an hour and I had to be there for my TT Baby.... AND ON TIME.
After applying a layer of lipstick, I straightened up my bathroom counter, being sure to turn off the light on my way out. I stormed into Beyoncé's room to get my heels she wore out the night before.
Seeing her slumped out on her bed made me a little angry. I just feel like regardless of the drama between her and Nicki, she should have still made an effort to come for Nyla. Yeah, Nyla's not her child but Nyla loves her more than enough for her not to be. An hour of tension would be more than worth it, just to see Nyla smiling and happy.
I turned her light on, immediately spotting my heels on the floor, beside her bed. I took a seat on her bed and started putting them on.
"Hurry up." She groaned.
"Okay!"
She winced in pain. So she was drinking last night? Sad.
"Why you up so early anyway?"
I looked over my shoulder, seeing that she was wiping her eyes.
"Nyla graduates from preschool today. You do remember her, don't you?" Yes, I asked with every intention of being petty.
"Shit. That is today, ain't it?" Her voice was still groggy.
"Yep." I stood up once I had my shoes on. "I'm out." I left out her room, being sure to leave the light on and door open.
Had Koi been here, she would have been my road dawg. Solange had to study for her final exams, so she couldn't come either.
I grabbed a quick snack and Nyla's gift on my way out the house. The ride to her was surprisingly quick. Nicki, her dad, and Nasir were all already here.
"Hey babe." I pulled her into a hug and kissed her cheeks earning the same greeting back in return. I hugged her dad and gave Nas a dry ass 'hey'. He's lucky he was still my niece's father and I'd only put up with him for her sake.
"Where my TT Baby?"
"They're all in the classrooms with their teachers." She told me.
"Oooh." I nodded and followed behind her to our seats. Luckily for me, we were close to the front of the stage, I was going to make sure my lil baby heard me.
-
"Congratulations, TT Baby!" I yelled, swinging Nyla in my arms, and leaving kisses scattered all on her cheeks.
She just giggled and tried to hold on to her cap that was still on her head.
Her mama and them got their hugs in first, so I could actually relish in this moment without feeling guilty.
