I lay down on top of my bed. Emma, Sarah and Martha sat beside me.
"I can't believe Alice and Reece are mermaids, well, Reece is a merman!" I shouted.
"I know! I can't believe it either," Martha agreed.
"Well, atleast that's two people that we don't have to hide our secret from." Emma said quietly.
"I don't want Reece to know I'm a mermaid! How awkward is this going to be? I work with him everyday, and now he knows I'm half fish!" I screamed.
"Good point," Sarah said while nodding her head. Luke walked in the door.
"Are you guys ok?" he asked.
We all sighed.
"I know you're all finding this really hard," Luke said.
"And what?" Martha asked impatiently.
"Well, I hope me and the boys can help." Luke smiled.
I quickly stood up.
"No, no and no! You're not getting Beau involved in this!" I yelled.
"Why?" Luke asked.
"Because, he can't keep our secret!" I shouted. I felt like crying. I wish I could trust Beau.
"Of course he can!" Luke laughed.
"No, Luke, Libby's right. I'm not sure f we can trust Beau," Sarah sighed.
Luke held Sarah's hand.
"Sure we can. I mean, he's a great guy." Luke smiled.
"Yeah, maybe he is, but he can't keep a secret." Emma said.
"Oh, crap. I already invited the boys over to help you out." Luke said quietly.
James, Skip, Beau and Jai walked through the door. I avoided eye contact with Beau, but it was hard because he was staring right at me with teary eyes.
"Emma! I've been wanting to catch up with you," Jai smiled.
"Luke! But those three don't know...." Martha yelled.
"I know. It's cool." Luke replied calmly.
"I don't think this is such a good idea. Can you please leave?" Emma asked.
"Emma, it's fine. They don't know anything, and they won't find out." Luke quickly said.
"What don't we know?" Skip asked.
"Nothing! Now go away!" Martha snapped.
"Girls, please! Tell them Sarah!" Luke begged.
"Well, this is a really big and dangerous thing. Maybe it's not such a good idea." Sarah said.
"We just want to help!" Luke cried. Sarah rubbed his back.
"I know, baby." she smiled.
"Is this a science project? You can tell me, baby cakes." James smiled and sat down beside me. I pushed him away.
"Actually, it is." I lied. I could tell by the look on Beau's face that he was getting madder and madder.
"Nothings to big for us, baby cakes." James said and put his cold hand on my leg. I quickly slapped it off me.
"Leave her alone, James." Martha said.
"Na, na. We're cool." James smiled and lay down beside me. Beau stared at James with a furious look on his face. I jumped off the bed. James wrapped his arms around my neck.
"Get off of her!" Beau screamed and pushed James onto the ground.
"Woah, woah!" James yelled and put his hands in the air. He stood up. "Or what?" he joked. Beau pulled the finger. Luke and Jai rushed over to help. Emma and Sarah tried to pull me away, but I felt as if I needed to help Beau.
"Can you just leave me alone?" I snapped. Sarah and Emma let go of me.
"Baby cakes, help me out." James smiled.
"No!" I shrieked. Beau's face was as red as a tomato. He threw his hat on the ground and stomped out the door. I felt terrible. This was all my fault.
"Meet me at the cafe, baby cakes?" James asked.
"No! And would you stop calling me that?" I cried. James left the room, and my cheeks were wet with tears. Jai comforted me.
"Hey, are you ok?" he asked.
I nodded, but I actually wasn't.
"I'll talk to Beau." Luke offered.
"No, please don't." I said quietly.
Martha, Emma and Sarah were shocked. They exchanged looks.
"I can't believe James would do that!" Luke said in frustration.
"Really, it's ok." I cried. Jai hugged me, in a friendly way, I think.
"Will you be alright?" he asked. I didn't know what to say. If I said no, they would all stay and keep talking about Beau, but if I said yes, then I would stay here all alone and feel awful.
"You guys can go, we'll stay," Sarah kindly said.
"Thanks." Luke smiled. Jai let go of my hand and walked away.
