A slice of tiramisu cake was between the two sisters.
The youngest, Victoria, looked at the slice of cake with hunger in her eyes. If she hadn't skipped lunch for working on her science project with her partners, she wouldn't be stuck in this unfortunate situation. She ran her fingers through her black locks, biting her lip and closing her eyes.
The oldest, Catilina looked at her little sister with an innocent smile. Being the older sister had its perks, and if she played her cards right, she would have all the information that she needed. She adjusted her glasses on her face, a towel wrapped around her freshly washed hair. A soft white robe was on her tan skin, covering her from the cool air conditioner.
"Why must you torture me?!" Victoria whined, trying to avoid the seductive dessert.
"Torture? Me? How could I? I would never do that to my sweet little sister. I just wanted to make a little treat for you, you've been working so hard in school, and I want you to keep up the good work," Catilina chuckled. "This beautiful slice of tiramisu cake, for the cost of telling your favorite big sister what she's getting for her birthday,"
A pan hit Catalina's head softly, her mother, Alexandra laughed loudly, smiling at her two daughters. "Sorry Catalina, but you're just going to have to wait until tomorrow, Victoria is on my side for this one,"
When she knew her mother walked to the kitchen, Catalina looked at Victoria, bringing her voice to a whisper. "Come on Tori, you're on my side, right?"
Victoria opened her eyes and saw her big sisters pout, she almost looked like their dog, Lucas. It was bad enough she couldn't say no to the dog for treats, and her big sister learned the technique perfectly.
Almost.
"I'm sorry Cat, but I'm on mommy's side on this one,"
"Pretty please, just a hint?"
"It's a surprise,"
"I can act surprised, come on cutie, please?"
"You know I'm always on your side, but this time, I'm on mommy's side,"
"Just this once, little cub," She pulled Victoria's favorite nickname, hoping that this can seal the deal.
"Victoria! Can you help me with the cream horns?" Their father, Nathan called out.
Victoria stood up. "Coming dad! Just a minute!"
Catalina smiled, looking at her little sister. "Go on little cub,"
"I promise, on my dream to become a chef, you'll love the surprise,"
"Okay my little chef, I believe you," Catilina took the slice of tiramisu cake, smiling. "I'll wrap this up for you, and you can eat it after dinner,"
Victoria stood up, walking to her sister and giving her a hug, squeezing lightly. "Thank you," She ran to her father, putting on her apron and grabbing the fillings, starting to pipe the desserts.
"And you," Her mother stood behind Catilina, a smirk on her lips. "You should be in your room, you know the tradition,"
"The day before an Atlas's birthday, they aren't to be in the bakery," Catilina sighed, standing up and pushing in her chair. "Can I at least have something to eat?"
"I'll bring you some popcorn," Alexandra waved her off, smiling.
Catilina walked upstairs to her room. Falling on her bed, she sighed and looked at the time.
7:45 pm.
"Meow," Her pet kitten, Primrose hid under the covers, snuggling into them. Catalina smiled, stroking the felines soft fur.
"Hello my darling Primrose, do you have any idea what Mom and Dad are getting me?" Catalina mumbled.
The feline closed her eyes, purring.
"I guess not," She chucked. "Hm...I just hope they bake me the Vanilla Dreamboat dessert, it was always my favorite,"
The Vanilla dreamboat dessert, the legendary one of a kind dessert that only came one day, on Catalina's birthday. A beautiful yellow cake topped with golden Oreos, white chocolate chips, and fresh white buttercream frosting layered in the cake. She imagined all the ingredients coming together to make that one beautiful texture.
She yawned quietly, rubbing her eyes with a fist. She rose out of her bed, taking off her robe and grabbing a pajama top and underwear, she took off the towel and dried her hair, putting it in a messy bun.
"Hm...maybe I should shave it, even if it was on the side." She mumbled. "Maybe later,"
She walked to her bed, laying back down and closed her eyes.
"Cat?"
"Yes Victoria?"
"Can I sleep with you?"
"Why?"
"I wanna,"
She chuckled. "Shower, chores?"
"Yes, yes"
"Homework?"
"Yes, can I sleep with you now?"
"Come on you little stinker," She scooted over the bed, patting the spot next to her. Victoria smiled, walking over to her and laying next to the older sibling. Catilina opened her eyes, seeing Victoria cling on to her stuffed lion, wearing her favorite Lion King pajamas. She chuckled, stroking the youngsters cheek. "You gotta get some sleep, little one"
Victoria yawned. "Cati?"
"Hm?"
"Happy birthday,"
She smiled, kissing the little ones forehead.
"Thank you, little cub,"
She smiled when she heard soft snores. She sat up, looking at Primrose with a smile, reaching out for the small kitten. Primrose jumped on the bed, nuzzling the woman's hand.
"You get some sleep as well, Prim. We got a long day tomorrow,"
