"Falling from cloud nine. Crashing from the high!" I sing the lyrics to one of my favorite Katy Perry songs.
"I know you're upset about Jake going out with Nick today, especially after all that happened, but don't worry about it! If he did all that with you, I'm sure that he likes you a lot more than Nick." Selena tries to talk to me as I sing away my sadness.
"I'm letting go tonight!" I continue.
"I bet he's out right now wishing that Nick was you." Selena comforts me like I did for her when that dumb number six guy stood her up.
"Selena, I'm wide awake now. I see everything clearly! Jake was just using me, he's probably shit talking me with Nick right now!"
"I-I don't think that's happening."
"How can we know? Anything could be happening! Jake is definitely the type to go all the way on the first date!"
"Well is Nick like that?"
"I don't know, not the way I see him. Although, who knows what he's like when he's alone with Jake. I mean, I'm not that type of person, and I thought about doing it. I wanted it badly in the moment, but I knew I couldn't. It's the first date after all, and I couldn't give that up to him when I don't even know if we're going to become an item."
"That was smart, you wouldn't want to do anything you'd regret with him."
"See! You think that he's going to leave me to! The whole world is against me!" I complain, dramatically falling down on my bed.
"I don't think he's going to leave you, I mean it. You have to have faith."
I slam my face into the pillow. "But Nick is so charming and perfect. He'd go great with Jake who's a major flirt."
"Maybe their personalities will clash more than you think."
"Don't doubt my ability to see chemistry."
"Sorry, I just think it'll work out differently than you think."
"I just hope they don't become a couple when I walk in to school tomorrow."
"No matter what happens, you're going to fine," she assures me.
"I hope you're right."

"Where are they?" I nervously tap my foot as neither Jake or Nick has shown up to English yet.
"Can you stop tapping? It's annoying," Sarah complains.
I look at her with a glare. "Remember when I said I liked your blonde hair? Well I don't anymore, you look like off brand Regina George."
"No I don't!" Sarah pulls out a mirror and gasps. "Right again...damn you Luca Maze!" she curses my name. I wish I had Selena in this class so I could talk to her instead of Sarah the hoe with a bad attitude and bad hairstyle.
"Nick is never late! He's the perfect student! Where is he? And where is Jake?!" I verbalize my panic for the rest of the class to hear.
"Calm down Chipmunk, I'm right here!" Nick arrives just as the bell rings.
"Mr. Perfect was almost tardy! Tardy!"
Nick rolls his eyes and sits down in the chair next to me. "Because I had a fun night."
"How fun?" I ask suspiciously. The envy inside me is growing to the size of an elephant.
"Enough to make my dad's insults laughable instead of actually offensive."
