Gay Isn't Your Color

Deep breaths, deep breaths. Just remember to breathe, and then show these straight losers how to make an entrance! I push the door open, gripping an iced coffee in one hand. I confidently strut into class fifteen minutes late, wearing my iconic lilac sweatshirt that says fashionably late on it. Yes, I planned to be late today. Heads turn as I hold my head high, and smile while sipping my iced coffee. "Don't make me late or I'll report you for homophobia," I remind my teacher.

"Yeah yeah Luca," she rolls her eyes with a smile.

"I love how you use your gayness as a weapon," Nick smiles.

I giggle. "She knows that I just say it for attention. Mrs. Bridge and I have a special connection," I reply.

"Yeah I know, that's why all the teachers love you."

"Jealous?" I ask with a smile. It's funny that the beloved president is a little jealous of me for being a student loved by the teachers even though I'm not a teacher's pet. I think they like my bold personality and gayness.

"A little, but I see why they like you," he winks.

"Oh yeah, what do they like?" I question, tilting my head with a smile.

"The sweatshirts, the attitude, and your chipmunk cheekbones," he teases.

"I'm sure they think of Alvin and the chipmunks when they see me," I roll my eyes.

"I mean there are three of us in the Three Muskequeers," he smirks.

"So who is who?"

"You'd be Theodore because you're the smallest with the biggest cheeks," he pokes my cheek. I feel my face heating up from embarrassment.

"I was going to say Alvin for you, but I think Simon matches you better since you think you're so smart."

"I am smart," he shrugs.

"Calm down Egomaniac," I tease him.

"I guess I'll be Simon, since Jake wouldn't fit any other one but Alvin."

"Aren't you nice and selfless," I smile.

"It's okay, we can't all fit into the category of the smart one and the popular one," he teases me back.

"Whatever, you can't be the cute one!" I cross my arms.

"I know, I don't have the cheeks for that," he pulls on my cheek. He keeps doing that without asking! Although, I really like it and want him to do it again.

I take a quick glance around the room and I just notice that Jake isn't here. I forgot that he's supposed to be in this class now. "Hey, where's Jake?"

"Oh he's picking up his jersey at the athletic office, he'll be back soon," he replies. "Speaking of that, you better be coming to the game today. It's a home game at six."

I roll my eyes while smiling. "I'll be there, unfortunately," I add the last part to annoy him.

"Yes it's very unfortunate to support your best friend," he replies bitterly.

"Who's says you're my best friend?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Me," he smiles. My face goes a little red when he says this. "You know it's true," he adds.

"I have plenty other friends."

"But none of them are as close to you as me."

I look across the table, making eye contact with Sarah. "Sarah and I are super close, right?"

Sarah gives me a glare. "You and Nick made other people think I was pregnant when you were gossiping in here yesterday."

I look at Nick awkwardly, recalling when Nick asked if someone was pregnant. "Oops," he shrugs.
