Darryl got up super early at around 4am because of a nightmare he had. His head was pounding. He got up slowly, he was trembling, sweating and he was questioning why all of this occurred from just a nightmare. Then he remembered what it was. Zak being with someone else, bringing someone else home and hearing them together. Darryl started sweating more. He decided to drink some water and to take a shower. He stood in the shower for an hour before bothering to clean himself up. His mind was so crowded with the nightmares, with the awful truth, the thought of his dream becoming a reality. He took deep breaths.
"Don't worry Darryl, you're fine," Darryl said to himself, stepping out of the shower and grabbing his towel. It was about half-past five. He got himself dressed and admired Zak. He hated himself for doing so, Zak had already moved on. He should too...right?
"D-Darryl," Zak said, making Darryl jump.
"Yeah?" Darryl responded.
"Why are you up this early?" Zak said exhausted, he obviously hadn't slept very well.
"I uhh. I had a nightmare and I got up to shower because I was sweaty.."
Zak yawned. He didn't respond again, it was clear he'd just fallen back to sleep. Darryl tried to go back to sleep, but he struggled immensely. He wanted to shout and scream and cry. Why was Zak doing this to him?
Hours past. It was now 8am.
Zak got out of bed without a word to Darryl. Darryl felt his heartbreak. He couldn't keep it in anymore. He cried.
"Why are you doing this, Zak?" Darryl questioned, not caring if he seemed weak. He just wanted an answer and of course, he didn't get one because he only asked that question in his head.
Zak was in the kitchen whilst Darryl was crying. Zak's phone was still left on the bedside table and there was a new message.
Darryl urged himself to look away from the phone but he couldn't.
"Hey, yesterday was a lot of fun, we should do it again sometime." Received from Samuel.
Darryl got up and went to his pc, if he could find any distractions, he would do it.
He watched some funny compilations of some Minecraft YouTubers who were apart of Minecraft Monday.
"Darryl, I'm going out, I'll be back soon," Zak shouted, not waiting for Darryl to respond before walking out.
"Okay," Darryl said back, even though Zak had already left.
Darryl distracted himself the whole time Zak was gone, he wouldn't give in to the temptation of drinking again, despite how bad he wanted too.
He went out on a walk with his dog, to clear his head and it really helped him, he smiled for the first time in a while. He played games with his dog and taught his dog some new tricks at the park and he really enjoyed himself. A few hours had passed it was now around 3:30pm and Darryl was on his way home. After around 20 more minutes of walking, Darryl arrived home and let his dog off the leash.
"Hey, Zak! I'm home!" He said happily. He thought
"Maybe Zak didn't get home yet." Since he didn't get a response but it turns out he was wrong. He walked into the living room to see Zak and this blond-haired guy making out.
The blonde pulled away from the kiss and looked up.
"Who's that Zak?" He asked before continuing, "I thought you said that you didn't live with anyone?" Samuel finished.
Darryl stood there, hurt, not knowing what to do.
"I-uhh," Zak said, not knowing what to respond with.
Darryl walked away and went back outside again, what was going on!? Things were worse than he thought they could be. His mood instantly went to shit.
Soon enough, Samuel hurried out of the house.
"This is fucking bullshit." Darryl heard him murmur.
Darryl sat down on a bench and just stared at the sky. He didn't want to think about what he'd just seen and so he didn't.
Zak came running out of the door, he ran over to Darryl and sat next to him on the bench.
"D-Darryl?" Zak stuttered.
No response from Darryl.
"What's wrong?" Zak said, scratching the back of his head.
"Everything," Darryl said, breaking down.
Zak didn't know how to react.
"What?" He said.
"You brought some other guy into my house when I still love you? Am I supposed to just not care?!" Darryl cried.
"But I thought you didn't want anything to do with me?" Zak said confused.
"Where on earth did you get that idea from!" Darryl shouted.
"I was trying to do something nice for you and you got really mad so I thought maybe you just didn't want to have anything to do with me..."
"The same morning you went out on that date with that guy was the same morning I was going to talk to you and apologise," Darryl said, not making eye contact with Zak.
"I'm so sorry Darryl," Zak said, feeling like an idot (rightfully so).
"Please look at me," Zak said, his voice broke.
Darryl slowly moved his head towards Zak, his eyes were bloodshot, looked like he hadn't slept and his hair was a mess.
"Why did you do this to me Zak?" Darryl whimpered.
"I'm so sorry, I thought you didn't want me. I tried to get over you with my ex.." Zak said shamefully.
"I just want things to go back to the way they were before." Darryl said, forcing a smile at Zak.
Zak pulled him in for a hug and hugged him tighter than ever before.
"I want that too." Zak said, never wanting to let go off him.
"I'm sorry."
"Don't worry, I just want honesty between you and me from now on. I never want you to ignore me or leave me like you did before." Darryl said.
"I promise I won't ever leave you." Zak said.
