"Bring the informer forward. Is that the child you saw?" Caius asked the woman I now know as Irina.

I feel for Kate and Tanya because I know that this will not end well. Edward has the same sinking feeling that I do, I could see it on his face just as clearly as we could hear it in Caius' mind.

"I'm not sure." Irina replied.

"Jane." Caius smirked.

"She's changed, this child is bigger." Irina quickly said before Jane could use her . . . gift.

"Then your allegations were false." Caius said.

"The Cullens are innocent. I take full responsibility for my mistake. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Irina said, more to her family than to my fathers.

Suddenly fire was lit and the guard were moving to surround her.

"No!" I shouted.

"Caius, no!" Edward shouted but we were too late.

Demetri grabbed Irina's head and twisted, leaving the woman headless before setting fire to her.

"Irina!' Tanya shouted, running towards the Volturi guard.

A few of the men tried to grab onto them but Kate used her gift on them. Poor Garrett took the brunt of the attack when he wrapped his arms forcefully around her. He held on for dear life though, didn't let go.

"Blind them." Edward said.

I quickly conjured images as I'm sure Zafrina did, to blind the blonde women before they could make a mistake that would be catastrophic.

"Give me my sight back." the desperate blonde Tanya, pleaded.

"Tanya, this is what they want. If you attack now, we'll all die. You can stop, girls." Edward said.

We released them from the vision, but even I knew that this isn't over yet. I could see the bitterness on my father's face. This is what they wanted to start a bitter war but they did not get it. The heaviest glare came from Caius, in disbelief that his plan didn't work.

Edward took a few steps over to his mate and I followed suit, but only I noticed the look that my father sent to Jane.

"Pain." she whispered.

I am not immune to her gift but I stepped in front of Edward anyway, falling to my knees to avoid him this agony. The pain you think you're enduring is excruciating but I had to do it. Edward and Jasper were quickly at my side to pull me up and suddenly the pain was gone. Bella pushed her shield to cover me.

"It's working." Edward said.

My fathers were surprised to say the least when I stood up again. The look on Bella's face, the smirk that she shot at the enraged Jane was well worth the pain. Jane took a few steps forward but her brother, ever the assistant, held her back. Alec himself, tried to release his incapacitating mist on us but my father held him back.

Jasper held tightly onto me, preparing for a battle and making sure I was okay. We remained silent as my father slowly called on a few of Carlisle's witnesses to hear what they had to say and to input his own ignorant and incorrect trail of thoughts.

Things seemed to work in our favor for a while, even a few of the guard's witnesses left after realizing the truth. They knew what was happening here, my fathers were reaching for an excuse, any excuse and their argument wasn't holding up any longer.

"Aro, you see there's no law broken here." Carlisle insisted.

"Agreed, but does it then follow that there is no danger? For the first time in our history humans pose a threat to our kind. Their modern technology has given birth to weapons that could destroy us. Maintaining our secret has never been more imperative. In such perilous times, only the known is safe. Only the known is tolerable, and we know nothing of what this child will become. Can we live with such uncertainty? Spare ourselves a fight today, only to die tomorrow?" my father said, trying to rally his troops.
