1912
James Barnes stood on the dock waiting to board the famous Titanic. His mother stood in front of him, as well as his father. He was arm in arm with his fiancé, Brock Rumlow, whom he didn't care for in the slightest. His arm was covered as much as it possibly could, with a glove around his hand, but ever since the war he felt like it just wasn't the same. Brock always told him not to make a big scene about it, and he did as he was told.Behind him was what he considered his closest friend, Natasha Romanoff. It felt like she's was the only one who understood him in this world and truly how much he hated marrying Brock. He would be willing to marry her in a heartbeat but she told him that she was in love with another man and that there would be someone out there for him.
He looked off to the side to see the skyline of Southhampton, the place he'd considered his home for the past couple of years. He felt as if the Titanic was taking him back to America in chains as a slave.
"Ticket, sir?" A man asked him, snapping him out of his thoughts. "My apologies." James told the man, and handed him his ticket.
He definitely had to come back to London and visit his little sister, that is if Brock would let him...

Steve Rogers eyed his cards careful. Tickets on the most famous and luxurious ship in the world were on the line, and he wasn't just going to throw this round. Looking around the table, he was met with the eyes of Tony Stark, one of the best poker players in the world. He was the one who put the Titanic tickets in and the only reason he put them in was Steve challenging him to prove himself at poker."Well gentlemen, I think I can have my tickets back..." Tony says, laying three aces and a jack down on the table. All of the men fold their cards except for Steve. As Tony starts to reach for the pile, Steve cleated his throat. He was a well built man, muscles almost tearing the poor shirt. His sloppy blonde hair was brushed in every direction, hiding his piecing blue eyes that quickly scanned the table. "Not so fast Tony..."Steve said, a small smirk emerging on his face.
Steve looked to his right, only to be met with the eyes of his closet friend, Sam. Sam's eyes were dark brown, but always seemed to give off either a I'll kill you in 3 seconds or I would follow you to the ends of the earth sort of vibe. Steve and Sam nodded as Steve locked eyes with Tony yet again. His devilish grin was followed by him laying down his cards. As all the eager eyes gathered to see what he played, Steve leaned back into his chair and rested his hands over his head.
Full house. Nothing beats that.
"You son of a bitch..." Tony grumbled as he slid over the tickets and the money in the pile. Sam patted Steve on the back and they picked up their bags (which they had packed the night before on the unliked event they would win) and stood up, with Steve taking one last shot of whiskey.
"I'm going to America!" Sam exclaimed, raising his shot in the air.
"Well you boys better get going now. The boat leaves in 5 minutes." The bartender said, pointing to the clock behind the bar.
"Thanks for the tickets Tony. Maybe you'll win next time." Steve said, giving a two finger salute to him before running after Sam out the door.
As Steve and Sam sprinting down the docks to try to make it before the ship took off, Steve couldn't help but feel like something was compelling him to be here. Like he was meant to win those tickets and get on this ship. That whatever was on this ship was going to change the rest of his life.
Steve was snapped out of his thoughts when he ran into a young woman holding a baby and waving a handkerchief. "Sorry ma'am..." He said, almost a little to quietly for her liking. He could hear the yelling and shouting of everyone from the docks as he tried to push past them. Steve tried the occasional "Excuse me, sir" or "Pardon me, madam" but Sam just barged through them yelling "I can see the ship's loading dock. Come on, Steve!"
They were both running past a horse and carriage when suddenly the horse buckled up, causing a whinny to erupt from it. Before Steve and Sam could even stop to calm it down, they heard the horn of the ship signal the leave.
"Wait, wait!" Called Steve to one of the crew members who said the last goodbye to the person boarding.
He turned to us and rolled his eyes. "Tickets please." He said, as if they didn't have any.
His spotless white coat didn't seem to have a single wrinkle on it, and the shiny gold watch on his wrist told the story of his wealth. Steve and Sam handed him their tickets, and he let them on board. They smiled to each other and quickly got on the boat. Shoving their way past people to get to the upper deck, they laughed at each other and couldn't believe they were really here.
As they reached the main deck, they were hit once again with the salty taste of the air and the cool breeze of the warm spring air. They saw crowds of people waving down to others below them, down on the docks.
Once they reached an open section of the balcony, Steve and Sam started waving down at the people who weren't on the ship, with yelling the occasion "goodbye" or "Au revoir".
Steve couldn't believe it. He was on the Titanic heading to America to start a new life.
'America, here I come. New life, here I come' Steve thought to himself, and James couldn't help but hope for the same thing.
