Prince opened his eyes.

He was on a hill that overlooked the horizon. The sun was beginning to set as soft warm colors collided to decorate the sky in soft oranges and brilliant yellows.

He gazed down at his hands, surprised to see that they were sun yellow, just like his ink color. He was just a bright yellow silhouette.

When he looked up, he was met with a blue figure. They didn't have any eyes, but he could make out their bright smile. Prince could tell right away who it was.

Goggles.

The ocean blue silhouette held out his hand, silently keeping his wide smile. For some reason... Prince felt all warm and fuzzy again. The same feeling of happiness that he had when he first got together with Goggles was hanging in his stomach, giving him that feeling of tingling joy.

He gladly took his hand and twirled around with him. They danced happily together beneath the tree that stood low beside them. Light pink buds rested on the branches, awaiting to blossom. Prince was completely at ease and in heaven before he noticed something. Goggles was slowly letting go of Prince's hands and he started backing away from him.

Prince was beginning to panic, trying his best to grab back onto his hands. His attempts were in vain as his hands phased through Goggle's body. His bright smile remained on his face, almost taunting him now as he drifted further away from Prince.

The warm colored sky began to turn into a sorrowful shade of blue as clouds began to embrace the sun into their puffy arms. Prince's eyes widened in horror as he saw Goggles drifting towards a yellow green figure. He already knew.

His mouth parted in a scream, but nothing came out. He reached out desperately, not wanting this warm dream to fade into his harsh reality.

Prince let out a silent scream, trying his best to beg for Goggles to come back to him. Rider and Goggles pressed their noses together, both looking emotionless without their eyes. They turned their back to the sun yellow inkling before skipping away together, slowly fading away as they grew further from Prince.

He tried his best to chase after them, but he was suddenly glued to the ground beneath him as he silently screamed for his love to return to him.

He gazed up teary-eyed at the bulbs in the trees above him. They were blossoming and revealed that they were bleeding hearts. They bloomed one by one over the young monarch's head as tears began to form in his eyes. He inaudibly sobbed, wiping the salty warm tears from his cheeks.

Prince suddenly felt someone embrace him from behind. He stood frozen in shock before relaxing a bit at the comforting warmth that shielded him from the harsh cold around him. He turned around and hugged the stranger back, not even trying to make out who it was.

The golden inkling boy sadly smiled as he nuzzled his face into the unknown squid's neck, taking in their sweet scent. He purred loudly in their arms as he did so.

They smelled... Familiar.

Laceless woke up from his deep slumber. He blinked away his sleepiness and smacked his lips. He'd forgotten all of the previous events beforehand. He snapped out of his daze upon feeling something warm press against his neck.

He almost jumped upon realizing it was Prince snuggling his face into his neck, still fast asleep. His face grew a little hot as he stared down at him. After a few seconds, he relaxed a bit.

Laceless hesitated a moment before running his hands through Prince's hair, leaning in a bit to smell his hair. He smiled at the scent before closing his eyes once more, his smile still lingering on his face.
