Dear Mother, 

I was hoping that the night before the ball, Mary would be able to stay over to get ready like we used to. I really have missed hanging out with her. Also, we were both thinking after the ball, everyone could stay over, and we could watch muggle movies and pop popcorn. The boys could stay with Hyperion and Scorpius, and the girls could stay with me. We could even stay in grandmother's room so we are on the opposite side of the Manor if that would be better. I think we would all have a great time, and I hope it is alright. Owl back soon so I can tell everyone.

Father, 

I have asked someone from my year to go with me to the ball. She said yes, and I am really excited for you and Mother to meet her. She's wicked on a broom and loved quidditch as much as I do. 

Mary seemed upset about it, and I don't know how to ask her why. Should I leave it be? I don't want to lose her friendship, but I think she's upset because she wanted to go with me. She doesn't know that I  know she likes me, and I am just confused about what to do.

Mother, 

I have a date to the ball. She is in my year and Slytherin. She and Ara are friends already from staying with one another for the past 6 years. I think that she approves, which is nice, seeing she doesn't get along with many girls. She reminds me of you in away. She's brilliant in Charms and is top of the class. Flitwick loves her. Plus, she is a muggle-born. She and Hugo are getting along great. She tells him a bunch about the muggle world. Mr. Weslsey might steal my date if he finds out. 

I miss you all. Tell the triplets that I say hello, and I love them. Grandmother too.

I do not know what to do. Hyperion asked someone else to the ball, and I am quite sad about it. Should I tell him that I like him? Also, I asked Declan to go with me. I didn't want to go alone. He's the boy I have been tutoring. He is a great friend, and I am so happy he said he would go with me. 

What should I do about Hyperion?

Ara, 

You can of course have Mary over the night before the ball. I remember getting ready with all of my friends before balls. It was so much fun. I can't wait to see how beautiful you all look. 

I have also talked to your father about having everyone staying over, and said that it would be acceptable. I remember watching muggle films with him in school. He has already said that he would pop the popcorn for you. Saying he does it better than anyone. It is true, but don't tell him that. 

Just make sure everyone checks with their parents before staying over.

Give Mary some space, son. She may be feeling upset about it now, but I doubt you will lose her as a friend. You both have been friends longer than you have liked this girl you are bringing. She knows that and wouldn't throw away being your friend because she likes you and wanted to go to the ball with you. When you see her at the ball, perhaps share a dance with her. Just let her know that you are still great friends.
