Chapter Six- "Get her boys."

Something felt wrong. And not a 'damn, shit's gone down' kind of wrong. It was the wrong that made it feel like the very fibers in my stomach were now eligible to be thrown up. Like my intestines were now 10 times heavier, stopping me from being able to lift myself up. It was the wrong that made the darkness kept by my closed eyelids feel like a safe haven. But what could possibly be this wrong?

------earlier that day------

"It's okay Lil, we're almost at the place, I promise, just a few hundred metres, not even a kilometre." A dehydrated Hunter spoke to me as he barely moved his lips, trying to save the moisture in his mouth by preventing the dry air from attacking his tongue.

"Okay." I coughed, feeling my neck tighten with lack of water. If only we hadn't of ran out four hours ago on one of the hottest days of the year. Did I mention that we were walking up a bloody mountain? And there was hardly any plantation and the dry food in Hunter's bag would only make us thirstier. I knew I shouldn't of given Hunter the last juice box yesterday. I bloody knew it and once I had the strength in me to do so, I would never let him hear it down. I proved him wrong. I also told him that going to the old tree house he had made when he lived closer to the area we were in was a bad idea. And guess what? Yeah, we got in this stupid mess.

"It'll only take about two to three hours tops, I promise."

The flashback of his voice only made me angrier. We had bought about three bottles of water each for this trip, Hunter allegedly knowing of a small drinkable stream behind the tree house and insisting that by filling more bottles up it would just make it a heavier load. What a load of bullshit. I will murder him myself if there is no stream, or even worse, if it's dried up in this heat. But apparently, he's never seen it dried up so I'm just going to hold onto that drifting hope.

"I can see it." Hunter yelped and I saw him instantly regret it. He started chocking and I could barely lift my arm to whack him on the back, and when I did it was a weak and pathetic attempt. I mentally cursed myself. But none the less, after he stopped coughing I looked up and saw an entrance to a small forest and in between a few trees, I saw a small house up in one and hope hit me faster than the sensation of Hunter tugging me forward, in which my wince of extreme pain was ignored by him. We staggered into the forest and I could instantly breath a lot clearer, I would cry if I have any liquid in me. "Can you hear that?" His voice was rough, low and sounded extremely struggled, and it wasn't hard to tell why. Looking up at his beautiful face made me wince slightly, it was almost red raw and I wanted to cry even more, knowing I looked the same.

I grabbed his wrist softly, not wanting to hurt him like he had done with me only minutes before hand. I led both of us to the river and felt weakness suddenly pin me more than it had previously and I felt the thud of landing on the soft grass before feeling like the sun was drying me out and felt the blackness of this situation put me into a dreamless rest.

"Lilic?" He asked and I chocked. Water had hit me like a ton of bricks and as a large amount entered inside my mouth I had no choice but to sit up and regain breath. I opened my eyes to a panicked Hunter and my heart took flight for a few seconds before remembering the situation, we're runaways. "Thank god." He smiled before taking me gently in his arms, this time he was being more cautious towards my burns.

"What happened?" I asked grabbing more than willingly at the bottle of water Hunter had handed me and didn't take my lips off it until I was sure there was nothing else I could take out of it. Hunter offered me up another bottle before answering me.

"You fainted from heatstroke, quite a serious one at that. I was afraid I would have to continue on alone." He chuckled nervously and awkwardly scratched the back of his neck.

"Oh." Was all I could say after finishing my second bottle of fresh water, feeling refreshed and healthier already.

"Yeah, I suggest that we stay here for longer than we planned, we're going to have to wait till our burns are gone and until both our strengths are back up. Being that dehydrated for so long can't be so easily fixed in a few days." I rolled my eyes at him. "I'll be back in about ten, I'm going to hid our bags  under a trap door just in case mice are in here." I shivered at the thought of sleeping with possible rodents and Hunter just laughed at me before walking towards the tree house I had yet to see the interior of.

Almost 10 minutes later I was enjoying the view of this hidden forest when I heard footsteps approach and I felt my lungs struggle greatly to breath in air as I looked up.

"What are you doing on my property?" An angry growl erupted from what seemed to be a middle aged man wearing a flannelette shirt with dangerously short, shorts. The worst part was, he was holding a gun straight at me.

Where was Hunter? Oh my god. I really am going to die today. Why could I have just died from heat stoke? At least I wouldn't be alive right now to feel the adrenalin that we surging through every single one of my veins, like I was overdosing on fear. Wait, stop talking to yourself like that, you ran away to abandon those thoughts.

"I-I-I um." My words weren't working. I could feel the anxiety building itself up in my chest. Surely if I wan't going to die from the heat or a gun shot, it would definitely be a heart attack.

"Did you not read the sign?" His voice laced with anger. Wait what sign? I didn't see a sign. Surely Hunter didn't see the sign either if he still lead us here? "All trespassers will be prosecuted." I gulped at his words.

"N-n-n-no." My voice was broken like my feelings and my family and my life and my future.

"Get her boys." Suddenly two men, equally dressed as the first man, came out from the trees behind him and grabbed my arms. My struggles were weak from only just surviving a heatstroke less than half an hour ago and the burns on my arms were still fresh and agonizing. The first man then moved his finger closer to the trigger, obviously like the view of my squirming. I felt a sudden form of impact, though instead of it hitting me in a bulls eye to the heart, I felt the cold rod of the gun hit me square on the head.

------present------

I heard a door squeak, alerting me of my reminisce and bringing back to what was really happening now. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I winced in fear, squeezing my eyes tighter together. The person shook me lightly but it didn't stop the fear that seemed to poor through my body once again. What was going to happen to me? They continued to shake me gently until I barely opened my left eye for a small glace. I saw a face and instantly pulled it shut again. I was going over the details of the face in my mind, trying to identify the male, when it hit me. I gasped and opened up my eyes to the forbidden sight.

"Hunter?" I screamed. I didn't know whether to be panicked, excited or mortified. Behind him were the three men that attacked and threatened me earlier.

"Um Lilac." He took him time to scratched the back of his neck nervously. "Meet my uncles." And for what seemed like the millionth time today, which seriously can't be good for my body, I felt myself go limp. Falling off the bed and into the arms of Hunter unwillingly, my thoughts and sight were once again black.
