Narrator's p.o.v-
Since both the girls woke up late in the morning Jenna offered to drop Nicola directly to the cafe. Nicola had an amazing day. Her mood was fresh and for the first time in months she didn't had a mental breakdown in the morning. All credits solely goes to Jenna.
Even Dolcy was amazed to see Nicola being chirpy and cheery all day long. She commented how she looked good whenever she smiles wholeheartedly.
She totally forgot that she still has to go Aaron's home in the evening. Her face fell a little. She wasn't being ungrateful but Nicola thinks it was high time to leave Aaron's place. She was living there for more than a year already.
Nicola hadn't share it with anybody but she has heard most of Aaron's hush conversation with his nonna and it was crystal clear that his nonna doesn't like her and what shocked her the most that his nonna didn't even know that Nicola was still living with Aaron. Ever since she heard the 'not so hush' conversation between Aaron and his nona she couldn't seem to keep herself calm. She knows she has to do something sooner rather than later.
Aaron came from a rich and well maintained family. Of course his family is going to object about a mere mute girl living with him who has no filthy rich background or who hasn't have even a slightest bit of connection with them whatsoever. Why is she still living with him in the first place? She isn't his fiancee! Nor a girlfriend heck, she isn't even his best friend to begin with. Then why Aaron is so keen to keep her with him under one roof?. Maybe she knows the answer all along but she pretended not to notice.
She never had a love of her family. When that cursed accident happened, her addicted mother was a no show and her father, well her father wasn't there in her life since her childhood. She was in coma for almost two years.
She lost all of the hopes along with her voice and when she finally came out of the coma the first person she wanted to see was the face of her mother's. But it was Aaron who came forward, hugged her tight, cried with her, provide her warmth when she needed the most. She didn't had anywhere to go and Jenna was struggling with her own battles of financial condition and struggling to find a well paying job. She didn't wanted to be the extra overloading burden on her already existing problems. Even though Jenna was persistent but Nicola's medical bill was more than her whole school fee.
Aaron was the one who paid her bills, provide for her and looked after her. Nicola tried, she really tried to do something, anything to move her muscles but the effects of drugs were heavy on her. She was vulnerable at that time and Aaron never once complaint which she was thankful for.
But now, she has became more confident woman. Believe it or not but her disability gave her the courage, the strength which she was lacking her entire life. Funny it was, she was ashamed of her stuttering all of her childhood and teenage life but learnt to love her muteness. It made her felt like nothing can stop her. If anything, she is proud of it.
Gone was the timid, helplessly naive stuttering girl. She is now replaced by a super confident and beautiful mute woman.
Nicola smiled absent-mindedly. Surprisingly, Aaron hasn't called her all day. She even checked her messages the only message was by her sent to him. She felt the need and responsibility to let him know that she had stayed the night at Jenna's.
She closed the cafe and was sitting with dolcy waiting for Aaron to come and pick her up.
"Mr. Walter is shockingly late tonight again. Don't you think, nic? He never do that." Dolcy scrunched up her nose.
"He must be caught up in a work." Nicola shrugged.
"Yeah, maybe." Dolcy wasn't sure.
"Don't worry, dolcy. He will be here or if he won't be able to make it tonight for some reason, will you stay back here with me for few minutes more while i inform jenna to come pick me up?."
