"May i help you?" Asked the receptionist kindly.

"We have an appointment to see Dr. LeAnne." Aaron replied.

"Sure sir, let me check." The receptionist checked her computer screen.

"You can see him now." Receptionist politely smiled at them and Nicola too returned the gesture.

Aaron and Nicola made their way to Lance's office.

"Aaron? You're here? How are you?" Lance shot up from his seat when he saw Aaron along with Nicola.

It was the second time since Aaron came to his office otherwise he would only talk to him on phone to discuss about Nicola's routine and sessions.

"Why, can't i come and see how's my little brother doing?". The tinge of sarcasm was clear as day in his tone but both Nicola and Lance kept it aside and smile along at his teasing voice.

"Of course, you're most welcome." They hugged and slapped each other's back.

"Today i will be joining Chlow, in her session." It wasn't a sentence made to argue over. It was a command.

"I hope you're a good listener then." Lance agreed.

"Try me, little brother." Aaron smirked down at him.

_______

Hurt, anger, jealousy, envy, sadness and rage were some of the emotions Aaron was feeling on seeing them getting smiling to each other.

Nicola was looking carefree and happy with Lance and that guy talked about anything to everything.

"Is this how its work?. Asking her about what she did on daily basis?". Asked aaron nonchalantly.

"Well, it's a part of it. It's help me write her prescription also it's give me a little sneak peek of she is upto lately. You know whether she is liking her job her or not, if yes, then it's okay and if not, then i would try to know if something's bothering her or depressing her for even a slightest. It's a long process but eventually it gets better for both of us." Lance purely avoided the word patient because he always made sure Nicola didn't feel that she is suffering from any disease or have any severe mental illness. He always told Nicola that it's okay to have depression, anxiety and low self-esteem and confidence.

"Looks like it's a process of courting her." Lance didn't take any offence at Aaron's light snapping and instead he let out a quite a hearty laugh.

"It's a secret. Don't rip off the band-aid, mate. I don't want her to know." Lance too tease back making Nicola smiled at him. Aaron narrowed his eyes, didn't liking how much actually lance has grew on Nicola that she didn't even reacted negatively even a bit on Lance's openly flirtatious remarks.

God forbid, if it was Aaron who made these type of statements then Nicola would be running for hills.

"Too bad, she isn't interested." And she's already taken which Aaron wanted to add but settled with the previous statement only.

"Awh, Are you Nicola?." These two were too engrossed on jabbing at each other that they didn't even noticed how much those comments made Nicola uncomfortable. Well, especially of Aaron's.

Nicola quickly take a look at Aaron who was intensly watching her. Her skin was burning under his hot gaze, silently telling her to go along with him.

Oh, This isn't good. She thought.

"Uhh, i-i-" Her hands trembled. Aaron's fists tightened. She could feel his jealousy and anger.

"Nic, you're a heartbreaker." Count on Lance to save the day. He dramatically put his hand over his heart. Nicola visibly relaxed when both men chuckled.

She has never felt so relieved to end one of her therapy session till now. After that conversation, the room temperature became unbearably hot for Nicola. Aaron didn't interrupt them after that.

The dark aura was radiating off of him making her feeling unsafe. He wasn't this much scary before. Hell, Nicola had to drank two glasses of water in the middle of her session.

"You alright?" Aaron asked driving them to god knows where.

"Yeah" she nodded.

"You sure? Do you have a fever?". Aaron put his free hand on her forehead. He sweep the little sweat off which was starting to form.

"God, chlow, you're burning!." Aaron exclaimed.

"No, i am fine. It's just medicines has started to kick in and sometimes i get fever because of it." It was true though.

"Yeah? That means you're too weak to handle the high dosage of medicines. It shouldn't be happening so often. You need to eat something to bring the fever down." Aaron cut the engine and hand the keys to the awaiting valet. They walked in one of the finest Italian restaurant.

Once seated, Aaron ordered for both of them.

"Isn't Lance too friendly? You should sue him for trying to flirt with you or you could just tell me and i would love to punch him senseless. The latter option is more appealing and less messy" Nicola's eyes widened. His lips quirked up in a teasing smile but his message was loud and clear.

He definitely wasn't joking.

"Uhh, Don't yo-, don't you like him?."  She didn't meant to pry but his rash comments were increasing her curiosity.

"Nah, he is a step-brother. Besides, i am straight, Chlow!." Aaron retorted playfully. Nicola's cheek reddened a little.

"No, i wasn't asking like that. I thought maybe you don't consider him as your friend?." Nicola signed.

"Why would i consider him as my friend?. He will always remain an uninvited and unasked for brat to me. His father is the reason why i am motherless basically an orphan!. I guess, more reasons to hate those LeAnnes." Aaron said nonchalantly. He wasn't sounding hurt but more like irritated. Still, Nicola's heart grew sad by the second.

She didn't pry on the subject after that not like Aaron was too keen either.

"Just so you know, i am bearing him only for you. If it was about myself i would never....." Aaron trailed off. Not wanting to complete the sentence. But the meaning was clear to Nicola.
