"You know, I never thought that the first girls room I'd spend the night in was yours, Annabeth."
"So, did you purposely state that in the literal worst way imaginable?"
"Why, whatever could you mean, Annabeth Chase?" Percy said, with his signature smirk evident on his face. If one couldn't tell, Percy Jackson was running a bit of a fever; and delirium seemed to be a symptom. Annabeth wrung our the rag she had dipped in warm water, and placed it upon his forehead.
"You stayed on my couch."
"Well, that's in your room, ain't it?"
"Guess you're right, should I go ahead and tell Thals that you stayed in my room overnight?"
"What's the point of healing me if you're just gonna have Thalia kill me later?" Percy and Annabeth shared a bit of a chuckle over that one, however, after a moment Percy could see a small amount of worry creep over the Daughter of Athena's face, which Percy, being Percy, didn't exactly take lying down. Despite the fact that he was; indeed, lying down. "Hey, uh.. What's up, Wise Girl? Why the long face?"
" 'Wise Girl?' Not exactly the most clever of Nicknames, Perce."
"I thought it was pretty okay.. It's like Wise Guy but like, a girl-Wait a minute, hold up. No changing the subject, Annie."
"Huh? Oh, it's nothing, Percy."
"No one ever says it's nothing if it's actually nothing, Annabeth."
"What do they say then?"
"They say what's bothering them."
Annabeth sighed, he was a little more bothersome then she remembered. Then again, she hadn't really taken the time to know him, so she couldn't exactly give a conclusive statement on that. "Why do you even care, kelp for brains?"
"Cause you're my friend."
Annabeth raised an eyebrow. "Am I now?"
"I mean, I had hoped we were. Otherwise this just got a lot more awkward."
Annabeth chuckled, though Percy didn't really understand why. "You're an odd one, Percy Jackson."
"How so, Annabeth Chase?"
"You know, most of the plans you went up against on your adventures were mine, right?"
"Thought so."
"Hmm?"
"Luke doesn't really seem the slow and methodical type."
"So you know I've plotted against your life, correct?"
"Yuppers."
"You know that this entire act of kindness could be a front to convince you to join Kronos, right?"
"The thought of this being a ruse has crossed my mind, yes."
"Then how can you call me your friend?"
"Cause you're Thalia's friend, and besides that 'threatening my life' thing, you've been pretty okay."
