The next day, she decided to visit the police station, Officer Lucas was not on duty that day, but the officer on duty gave her his address.
She found the house easily; it was a small cottage, with a rather neglected garden outside the house. She made her way through weeds and rang he doorbell, after about 5 rings a thin woman opened the door slightly. 'What do you want?'the woman asked, angrily. Raven was taken aback, 'I wanted to talk to Officer Lucas, is this his house?' she asked.
'My husband is very ill, and he will not be disturbed.' She said and began to close the door. 'Please, I just want to talk to him for a few minutes, its very important!' Raven implored.
The woman hesitated for a while and then opened the door, quickly scanning behind Raven, 'you're alone?', when Raven nodded, she let her inside the house. The house was a mess, just like the garden outside. She saw the thin woman properly this time; she was wearing a dirty yellow nightgown, with a ruffled collar and long sleeves.
Her hair was a mousy brown in color and tied back in a severe bun, at the nape of her neck.
'I am Meredith, I am sorry for being so rude earlier, but ever since the incident, we've had so many visitors asking about it, and my husband is still a bit in shock.' She explained.
'I understand, I am a journalist from the New York Times, and I am doing a report on the Wilson incident and it is vital that I speak to your husband, I promise I won't take much of your time.' Raven told Meredith.
'I'll get my husband, make yourself comfortable.' She went inside the house and Raven looked around, She found a couch, which had some books and clothes on it, which she moved aside and sat.
After 5 minutes, a man came out of the room. He was a tall, well built man, with thinning hair. He was pale and his hand trembled slightly when he offered it to Raven, 'I am Lucas, Lucas Taylor, Meredith said you wanted to ask me some questions.' He settled on a sofa, which she had not noticed, as it was hidden beneath discarded clothes.
'Yes, Officer, I am here to write a report on the Wilson incident..' she broke off seeing the look of terror on the policeman's face, 'Are you Ok, officer?' she asked, worriedly.
'Yes, Yes, and please call me Lucas.' He said.
'Lucas, can you describe what happened that day?' she asked.
He rubbed his face with his hand and shook his head as if dispelling a bad memory. 'It was a normal day at the station, I was doing some pending paperwork and my deputy was dozing off in his chair. I heard shrieks from outside and immediately grabbed my gun and went outside, when I saw Miss Gilbert running towards the station, looking as if she had seen death itself. She collapsed in front of me and kept pointing behind her, and that's when I saw him. He couldn't walk properly and was walking towards us with his head to one side, I shouted at him to stop where he was, but it was as if he couldn't hear me, when he got a little close, I was shocked to see the face, it was as if a scene from a horror movie had come alive.'
Meredith interrupted in the middle, asking if they wanted coffee or anything, and after she declined, Lucas continued, 'I could hear Miss Gilbert shouting that he had attacked Jeremy Wilson, and at first I thought it was a joke or a prank but the look of horror on her face was honest and without thinking further, I shot the man on his shoulder, he jerked back a little but to my horror, kept coming forward, I shot at his stomach, but even that didn't stop him, and then when he was just a few feet from us, I shot at his head, and he fell backwards, still, as if dead. My deputy had heard the shots and he came running out and I told him to take the girl inside, and I went to examine the man and I swear to God, it was Dave Cooper himself.'
