The Undead Chronicles (completed)

Chapter 8

They ran towards the classroom shouting for any survivors, they reached the gym and found it locked from the inside. Hope gleamed in Butch's eyes and they knocked on the door, but nobody answered. 

Renner and Raven made their way behind the gym to find any other entrance. 

They found a door and tried to open it, to their dismay, it was unlocked and when they went inside, they found Jeremy feeding on a middle aged woman's arm and a couple of already bitten children. 

Raven gasped and Jeremy heard her, he slowly got up and started moving towards them. This time it was Raven who shot at his head. Renner put his arm around her shoulders as she started crying and she buried her head in his shoulders and howled as she realized what she had done. 

'Jeremy was not Jeremy right now, Jeremy had died long ago. This was just a monster' Renner said in a quiet voice, though his voice trembled. 

Renner walked towards the corpses, one of whom was attempting to get up, but since Jeremy had eaten the legs, it could just drag itself. 

Renner crossed himself and shot all three of them. Butch came in then and surveying the scene said, grimly, 'we'd better run now, the Wilsons are out there.' 

They ran out of the school, surveying the area around them. There was no one around and they quickly got in the Patrol car and sped towards the town. 

Raven looked out of the window, as Butch tried to reach his deputy, but there was no response. 

'Most of the families had already left the town, we need a bigger area where we can assemble the rest of the families..' Renner was telling Butch. 

They decided that the old church was perhaps the best place to assemble everybody, and Butch announced on his mega phone that everybody had to assemble at the church before sundown. 

Raven could see a few heads poking from their windows and a few of them were coming out already. 

They reached the Cooper Diner and went in quickly. There was blood on the floor, and it led towards the kitchen, they made their way towards it, their guns ready, but there was no one in the kitchen and the back entrance was open. 

Butch cursed and without wasting any time they ran out. They had no clue how many people had been infected by now. 

They made their way to their car and drove slowly to the church. 

The buttresses of the church loomed ahead in front of them.  

Butch checked the courtyard and found it empty, they made their way inside and found the church empty but Renner and Butch checked for any survivors inside the building. 

Raven climbed the steps to the upper balcony and stood out in the balcony and surveyed the area below. 

Some movement caught her eye and she froze. A herd of undead was staggering their way towards them. She couldnÕt move for some time but then regained her senses and ran down and called out for Butch and Renner.  

'What happened?' Renner asked. 'They're coming, the undead, they're approaching' she managed to say.
