The relationship between life and death is nothing but a cruel game. Whether it is short or long does not matter. Life pulls you into bliss, pain, laughter, and experience either way. But when it all ends, have you committed to the fate you have chosen, or will you revel in terror in what awaits.
"Eve!" I hear as I walk through the thick morning fog. I can see it swarm around my legs, engulfing them in the soft grey essence they behold. The call of my name gets louder as I am suddenly knocked back by my friend Catherine. "Eve," She pouted, "Didn't you hear me calling you?" "Yea, but you didn't have to knock me over." "Hmph, well maybe next time you'll pay attention to me." Catherine said as she began walking beside me.
Catherine Eddowes. She is that friend that everybody thinks they want to have, then after, you cannot shake them. Catherine and I have been next door neighbors since we were kids. We played together, walked to school hand in hand, and now we are in a dorm together. It was kind of like an obligation to be friends. But we are nowhere near alike and after college I am most certain that we will never speak to each other again. But for now, I guess we are just riding with the waves.
"Eve? Evangeline!" Catherine screamed breaking me out of my thought, "Hmmm oh yea sorry, what?" "God your so spaced out, we're at your locker." I look up, I didn't even realize that we had stopped walking. As I swung my locker open, I heard a gasp from behind me. I quickly turned around and saw Andrea looking behind me. Before I could turn around, she gave an excited squeal and shook me, "Oh. My. God. You just missed the sexiest guy I have ever seen." I rolled my eyes," Cathy, you say that about every new kid." "I don't think he's a kid. It looked like a group of new teachers." "Well, that's not surprising you should know by now that the teachers change every year to offer a "world of new perspective as they say," air quoting our headmaster Mr. Mace. Catherine just sighed and walked away.
