"Beck, can I have a word with you?" William waited until everyone was out of the hospital room to pull me away, we slowly made our way down to the end of the hallway for privacy while I kept glances behind me unsure of what I was expecting to happen.
"Alright William, what do you want to talk to me about?" My back was pressed against the wall letting me have full view of Marina's door and both hallways while we talked.
"How long has this girl been in Las Vegas for?"
"Not even a week." I knew what his next question was going to be. "Everything I know about her, I know from the file Marcus pulled."
"What do you know about her?" I could see the concern on his face.
"Uhh, from what I remember from her file she's a recent graduate from Yale where she studied History and Art Restoration, and was just hired in at the Mafia Museum here as one of their Historians."
"Well that would explain why Shelly had all of her information faxed over to us last night." I could tell he wanted to say more but I saw Lucy exit her room and looked down the hallway until she found me.
"William, we'll have to continue this conversation at another time." By now Lucy was almost in front of both of us.
"Excuse me Dr. Graves, but can we get a clipboard or something for my daughter to write on." I could tell she didn't want to interrupt our conversation, but William was the only one in the hallway she could ask for something like that.
"I'll see if I can find a nurse to get one, or I'll get one myself." With that he left just Lucy and I in the hallway, I could tell she wanted to say something but wasn't sure how to start.
"Let me properly introduce myself, I'm Bianca Contovella but you can call me Beck." I held out my hand for her to take, she was hesitant at first but she took my hand in hers.
"Lucy Mezza." Her brown eyes were bright like honey from crying, I had a feeling there was a lot more going on in the room. She took her hand back at wrapped it around herself, I could tell she was debating on saying something.
"Was there anything else?" She looked up at me briefly before looking at the ground again and speaking.
"Are you the one who caused this to happen to my daughter or are you the one protecting her?" She didn't look up as she spoke, I could tell she was nervous while she was talking.
"I'm the one protecting her." She looked up at me this time. "I'll also make sure all her medical bills and recovery expenses are paid for." She gave me a small smile before responding.
"Thank you." It was faint, but I heard what she said. She turned away before I could respond and was already back in Marina's room. I made my way back down the hallway to her room, I didn't go in this time she still needed time with her family.

"I'm amazed at how quickly her parents got here." It was Shelly who pulled me from my thoughts. I saw nurses going in and out of her room but I didn't pay them much attention I knew Vito was keeping an eye on them.
"Shelly, what are you talking about?"
"Her parents were on their way to the Mian Ruins, I'm just glad they were able to get a flight back so quickly." She didn't wait for me to respond before going back to the book she was reading.
I looked at my watch, it was just past 11 am. I debated with myself on going back into her hospital room when my phone rang, I knew the phone number and I knew I needed to answer but I didn't want to. Sighing I got up and answered the phone, Vito following me down the hallway as I did.
"Ho sentito dell'esplosione, spero che ciò non influiscono sul nostro accordo commerciale." It was one of my business associates from Italy, he must have gotten into town early if he's already heard about the explosion that happened.
"Everything's moving forward as planned." I didn't want the unwanted attention at the hospital, so I answered in english. Everyone I worked with spoke multiple languages but we used English or the native language to not draw attention to ourselves when we needed to.
"Good," he paused before continuing, he knew something else. "I hope this girl isn't going to be a distraction from the business." Someone tipped him off, most likely my father.
"You don't have to worry about distractions." I hung up before he had the chance to respond. Vito gave me a questioning look, he could see my anger rising.
"They know." My anger was boiling at this point, I wanted to know who went behind my back. Vito left me in the hallway fuming he knew I would cool off I was left alone. My anger wasn't dying down and I couldn't take it anymore, I had to see her again before I left to deal with the mess someone made for me.
