It was finally Friday and that meant the Halloween party was tonight. I had woken up from dreams of green eyes and was immediately put in a bad mood when I realized I didn't have any missed calls or texts from Kallan. Was he expecting me to text him first? I shook my head and got ready. I threw on an oversized grey knit sweater and a pair of faded skinny jeans with rips in the knees. I decided to do some eyeliner today and put some concealer under my eyes and on a few blemishes. I brushed out my brows and put on mascara and highlight before topping off my look with a little lip gloss. I threw my hair into a messy bun, pulling out some face framing pieces. I put on my rings and a pair of white converse, quickly jogging downstairs. My dad wasn't home today, which wasn't a huge surprise, he was gone most of the time for work. He left yesterday for Denver and said he wouldn't be back for another two weeks. That had made my day even worse, but he helped call a tow truck for me and since he wouldn't need his car, he left me the keys. He had left me some money for food and had bid me goodbye early this morning, not that I really remember since it was 3am.
As I was shoving some ego waffles down my throat, I heard my phone bing and lunged at it, hoping it was an apology or something from Kallan. Instead, it was a text from Dorian, much to my surprise.
"Hey, since your car broke down, I decided to pick you up. I'm outside."
I was taken aback and quickly looked out my window to see his Audi parked in my driveway. I smiled and grabbed my bag, throwing it quickly over my shoulder. Before I got to the door, I ran back into the kitchen and grabbed a few waffles and ran out. I saw Dorian sitting there and damn, did he look good. His messy light blonde hair fell around his face and he wore all black today, complementing his tan skin. I threw my bag down and handed him two waffles. He smiled and grabbed them, proceeding to shove them in his mouth. I laughed and closed the door before facing him.
"You didn't need to pick me up, Dorian. My dad leant me his car since he'll be out of town for the next two weeks. But thank you." He just nodded as he reversed.
"Okay, I just didn't want you to be stuck with pretty boy in case you were still mad about what he said." I felt my heart flutter and smile as he drove. He cared about me? I mean, I know he took me home yesterday but this threw me off guard. "Thanks," I mumbled, looking out the window as I remembered what Kallan had said, "I guess I'm less mad about what he said and more upset with the fact he hasn't said anything to me since." I heard a low growl come out of Dorian and looked over at him. He looked angry and I felt my heart lurch out for him. I put my hand on his knee and he immediately un-tensed. "What did that piece of shit say?" I scoffed and folded my arms across my chest, removing my hand from his knee and immediately felt a loss. It was as if my body reacted differently to him than anyone else. "He's still my boyfriend, you know." I didn't want to tell Dorian what he had said because to be honest, I was embarrassed. He shot me an apologetic look and kept driving. "I know, I'm sorry, I just don't like when you are clearly hurt." My heart fluttered again and we didn't say anything else until we pulled up to the school.
I saw Kallan leaning against a pillar across from my parking spot, probably waiting for me. I didn't tell him my car broke down yesterday, so he was probably still expecting my bug.
I gulped and looked at Dorian. "Well, thanks for the ride, I really appreciate it." He smiled at me and just got out, handing me my bag from the back seat. I walked over to where Kallan was and he looked up, suddenly frowning angerly when he realized who's car I had gotten out of.
"What were you doing in Gratham's car?" He asked angerly and suddenly I felt myself shrink back. "He drove me to school, my car broke down yesterday and he drove me home, so he decided to pick me up today because he knew my car wasn't working." I decided to stand my ground, it wasn't like I was doing anything.
