Christen's POV: we were running like hell trying to escape some bad men that my brother and I somehow got involved with we hid in an alleyway until those guys were gone

Who were those guys Josiah? I asked my brother

I don't know some crooks I guess he replied sounding out of breath

We better get out of here I said

Right he replied

We got some horses and made our way out of town I guess since we were new here people got suspicious of us being here but we didn't care we just got the hell out of there we made it to a small ranch outside of town when we arrived three people came out two of them had guns in their hands

Halt "who goes there? a gentleman asked he had a British accent in his voice

We're sorry sir we didn't mean to trespass on your property my sister and I are just looking for a place to stay for the night my brother Josiah said with his hands up in the air as if he was surrendering himself to the Military

State your business boy another gentleman said he had a Vermont accent in his voice

My sister and I were being chased by some bad guys we lost them now but if you want us to leave we can sir again we're sorry for trespassing Josiah said

We turned to walk away when the man with the British accent spoke up

I'm looking for some more help you're welcome to join and be one of my Regulators if you like he said

We'll take it my brother and I said at the same time

Splendid you can start tomorrow morning at dawn he said

My brother and I bunked up with Richard or Dick whatever you like to call him and his twelve year old kid sister Chloe she was really nice her brother on the other hand wasn't so nice

Alright listen up here we start work at 5am sharp "got that? Dick asked

Yeah we got that my brother said

I was getting along fine with Chloe we hit it off real well and became best friends we learned about each other I learned that her father died of smallpox a year earlier and that she and Dick were the oldest ones so they came here looking for work and that was how they met John Tunstall I told her about our lives how our parents died and other things Josiah tried to hit it off with Chloe's brother Dick but he didn't have much luck and so that's how we became part of the Lincoln County Regulators
