CHAPTER 2

SUMMER'S POV

As I walked down the hall looking for Darcelle I saw people smiling and laughing with their friends. I just sighed and kept on looking for my friend I hope she's ok all of a sudden I heard my name being shouted out of nowhere "Summer!!!!!" and someone jumped on my back covering my eyes and at that moment I knew it was Darcelle this girl she is the only friend that I consider that doesn't live on the base "Good morning Darcelle" I said smiling she side off me "How did you know it was me" she asked pouting "Only you would come running down the hall shouting my name and jump on my back" I explained shacking my head this girl I though laughing giving her a hug since I haven't seen her in 2 months seeing that it was vacation and I was at the base training.

"So what did you do over the vacation" I ask her smiling " I spent most of it at the beach, what about you what did you do" she asked curiously " I spent time with my family" I answer only telling her half the truth she started pouting "I wish I could meet them you are always with them when I ask you to come and hang out with me" I laughed at her response "I know you will meet them soon promise" "Really" she jumped joyfully "Yes really" I smiled. We ended up talking until the bell rang for everyone to go to the auditorium for an assembly. Just as I was about to walk in the auditorium my phone started ringing I took it out and saw that it was my sister so I answered is "Summer there was an outbreak at the lab everyone's dead but they got back up and started to attack, kill and eating people their zombies, but the thing is it's happening all over in all of our lab our to is almost completely wiped out" I was shocked at what she just told me "What! how can that be what's going on now?" I asked "General Brandon said were coming to get you and the other students at your school so keep them as safe as possible" "Ok I'll listen out for them so hurry" when I said that I hung up the phone and walk in the line like nothing happened.

Our auditorium was big with a really big stage and gates for walls that a usually always open on each side but not today only one gate was open which was good and that where Darcelle and I were standing. Our principal, vice-principal, and teachers all came on stage one at a time they started talking about the school rule and regulations but I wasn't paying attention because I could hear the zombies coming they were about a mile away.

I felt someone tap my shoulder it was Darcelle the look she was giving was one asking if I was ok I just smiled and nod my head at her and then gave the principal my full attention. "The students that will be in the Tourism class will be Darcelle Scan, Summer Merit, James shaft, Luke shaft, Alissa Baba, Theo Salt, Amy Hilton, Paris Jackson, John Sweet, and Charles Smith" I'm in the same class as Darcelle good I know James since he transferred to school with his twin brother Luke last year they were the talk of the school for awhile Alissa, Paris and Manda are the schools It Girls and Theo, Charles, and John were James and Luke's best friends. "We're in the same class" Darcelle said excitedly I smiled at her and was about to answer when I heard the zombies less than a meter away.

I ran to the gate and closed it before any of the zombies could get in "Miss Merit what are you doing" the principal asked me using the microphone so now all eyes were on me. Before I could answer all the zombies started bangs on the gates and groaning you could smell blood and their decomposing body. Everyone started to scream in terror I couldn't do anything yet not until Chelsea and the others came. What should I do that when I realized that Darcelle was no longer next to me where did she go
I started looking but people were running, screaming and pushing as I attempted to pass including teachers ?.

After a long search, I saw her sitting on the stairs to go on the stage crying I ran to her and hugged her relieved that I found her and then let go "look at me Darcelle" when she looked up at me I could see her red puffy eyes from all the crying I smiled at her "Stop crying everything is going to be ok just stay by my side ok" she smiled and wiped her face "Ok" "That's my joyful best friend I know" I said laughing and she started laughing. Our joyfull moment was cut short when all we heard next was the sound of a guns going off BANG BANG BANG finally their here what took them so long I sighed in relief.
