Tying up my hair into a ponytail, I stare into the mirror. Combing mascara over my eyelashes, my mind wanders off to last week when I last saw Armando. Goosebumps run across my skin remembering his request for a date.

My alarm rings and I call a taxi to take me to my first day at the new bar. The sky dark only the moon's light shining on island tonight as I arrived a long line of people wrapped around the block.

I make my way into the alley towards the back door where I insert the pin into the keypad that Angelo sent me. I open the door to madness. Staff busting through running getting ready for opening night.

"Catalina?' a voice behind me says.

Turning around I look to see a man who I assumed was Angelo

He hands me a black apron and a gold-plated nametag. "Thanks for coming, take this. Doors open in 10." He points through a set of double doors where I pass and meet the rest of the staff. Sure enough doors did open and my long night began.

Armando's POV:

"Armando! Merde! Did you listen to anything that I just said? " Marco yells.

Slamming my fork onto my plate.

"No I guess not" I said gritting my teeth. Marco had always been a pain in my ass, I have to give it to him.

He sets his palm down on the dining table. "Look, the Romanos aren't taking any of our inventory. The deal fell through. You need to meet with Carlos. We need this deal to go through. Our men say their looking at a new connect. We might have to renegotiate." He said.

Frustrated I get up and walk out to the balcony. "Look Mando. I know it's not what we planned. Play nice with Carlos. We need the Romano deal to go through." He said.

He's right. Gritting down my teeth, whether I like or not we needed the deal. The Romanos are nothing but a bunch of weak fuckers who had no morals. Especially with the Marinos on us. The Marinos and my family had been rivals for decades, not until recently has the threat been real. There's nothing that irritates me more than an operation not going smoothly.

On my way up to Capo I've run into some despicable men, who looked down on me disrespected me and underestimated me. It took years to pave my name in this business and earn my place as Capo. In this business, being blood mattered, but what mattered more was your commitment and how far you'd go for your family. I broke my back working day in day out, sweat, blood and tears.

Sighing, I give Marco the go ahead to set a meeting.

My phone rings with urgency stopping my train of thought.

"Boss, the girl you requested the detail on, there's been a situation"

My heart and stomach sank and with it for the first time in my life I felt an emotion I have never felt before. Adrenaline shot through my veins and I felt as if the ground below me was about to swallow me whole.

Panic set in instantly.

Catalina...
