Fionna's POV
I'm wearing a bright blue dress that Cake made me just for this occasion. I hate that it has so many frills, but at least I can move in it. I'm walking into the forest to meet...someone. I don't remember who. All I know is that I'm exited about it.
Walking along a winding path into the deepest depths of the forest, I step surely as I look for who I'm meeting. Finally, I see a picnic blanket laying on a patch of grass right next to a natural spring. My picnic "date" isn't here yet, so I decide to take a quick bath. I strip down to my underwear, and start to step into the pool of steaming water, but when my foot hits the surface, I'm transported somewhere else.
It's too dark to see anything yet, so I wait for my eyes to adjust. When they do, I'm still in my underwear, but in a house. To be more specific, in a bedroom. It's so familiar, but I don't know who's it is. I open my mouth to release a huge yawn. Whoever's room this is won't mind me taking a nap, right? I walk to the side of the bed and slide under the covers. I turn to my side to get the most comfortable position. After a minute, my eyelids start to droop and I'm about to fall into a dream when I hear a door hinge creak and footsteps.
I pretend to be asleep while the stranger flicks the light on and starts to walk towards me. I crack my eyes open only to be blinded by the bright light...and see a silhouette right above me.
"I know you're not asleep, Fionna."
Quickly I sit up and try to look past the brightness to see who the stranger was. While my eyes are still adjusting, (Damn eyes! Do your job!) the stranger's hand touches my cheek and starts to lean toward me...and that's when I see who it is.
"Aaahh!" I yell as I sit up, feeling the tiny beads of sweat on the back of my neck. Looking around, I see it's still dark. It was just a dream. I breathe a sigh of relief as I plop back down onto the pillow. I turn to the side to go back to sleep...and see Marshall right beside me. My eyes widen as I stare at him in surprise.
"Stop staring. It's creepy" he mumbled. I scream again, this time kicking him out of the bed. What can I say? I was flustered.
I heard Marshall thump onto the floor. Maybe I kicked him just a bit too hard. Oops.
"Oooowww. What the heck, Fionna? That's no way to treat someone who saved you from sleeping on a rock all night." He crossed his arms behind his head as he floated just above the bed. Wait-what? Huh? Rock? Sleep? Suddenly, it all came back to me. The argument, the knife storm- even vague memories of being carried into a house. But it didn't explain the most important thing.
"Why in Glob's name were you in the same bed as me?" I asked, seriously confused. It's because I just woke up.
"Well, if you must know the truth, you were begging me to sleep in the same bed as you. You were trying to get me to make out with you and kept messing with my shirt buttons. It was all very tempting, but I talked you out of it. I ended up staying in bed with you though. You loved it." He gave me a devious smirk and a wink. But I could see right through Marshall's bullcrap.
"No way in a million years would I do that. C'mon Marsh, tell me what really happened." I was starting to get a bit annoyed.
"Guess I need to sharpen up my skills, huh? Well, what "actually" happened was that I found you in the cave trying to sleep on a rock in the middle of a knife storm. I took you in and decided to let you sleep in my bed, but when I tried to leave you there you wouldn't let go of my neck. It was like I was a teddy bear. So since I couldn't leave, I stayed with you. Happy?" He jokingly asked. Sounds legit. Let's go with that. All of the sudden, a very terrifying thought came into my head.
"Marshall, please tell me you called Ca-"
"WHERE IS SHE MARSHALL IF YOU HURT HER I WILL SHRED YOU WITH MY KITTY CLAWS!!!!!"
We look at each other, worry apparent on our faces. We jump out of bed and start running downstairs to stop Cake from destroying Marshall's house. How could he be so stupid as to not call Cake?
I run up to Cake, and her ferocious look melts into one of relief.
"Fionna!"
"Cake!"
Cake reverts back to her normal size as Marshall floats out into the living room where we were.
"Ah, Cake! You broke down my door! You're paying for that." Marshall gives Cake a glare, but Cake gives one right back.
"But that door wouldn't be broken if someone hadn't taken Fionna and not called me about it," she sasses. They both glare daggers at each other for a minute, then roll their eyes.
"C'mon Fionna, we're leaving," Cake commanded. She grabs my wrist and starts walking toward the door.
"Bye Marshall!" I call. "See you later!" He just waves as Cake responds,
"Oh no you won't!" I can tell I have a whole lot of explaining to do.
