Shadowtail's Pov:

My breathing almost stops as I take in where the smoke is coming from. Stiffening I softly shift Midnight's flight path towards the smoke. She glances at me briefly before continuing the path I sent her on. My ears are perked unmoving before the village comes into sight making me relax slightly as it's not fully burning just one lone house a bit further than usual compared to the others. I nudge Midnight towards the ground before she had to swerve out of the way of a wild dragon curtsy of Alvin. The Monstrous Nightmare flys around for a while before it's chased off the island by a dragon rider. Sighing in thanks Midnight lands a way away from the slowly burning house. "Go help Dagur and the others if you want Kai, if you want to, you know how to ride a dragon and Midnight will listen, so you can help the others, I'm going to find Hiccup." I say before getting off Midnight and heading towards the house. As I move closer to the burning building I'm able to smell burning hair or fur. Grimacing at the smell I enter the building through a broken window being small enough to wiggle through it easily. Smoke enters my nose along with the scent if both Alvin, leader of the Outcasts, and Hiccup. Confused I get low to the ground my ears perked to hear above the cackling of the fire. Ever so softly I hear footsteps, shifting into a cat I quietly move towards the sound. "Can't hide here forever boy." Says a voice I wish I didn't know. Knowing it's not Hiccup I quickly move away from the living room and enter the kitchen. Seeing a slightly open cabinet I walk towards it only to hear light panting and smell blood. Shifting back into a human I look around careful to stay low so not as much smoke gets into my lungs. Carefully I look through the cabinets close to the ground to try and find my brother. Suddenly I hear a heavy footstep enter the room. Spooked my ears perk twisting backwards to hear the heavy body walking inside the room. Not wanting to give Hiccup away I move away from the cabinets and get a dagger ready so I can at least try to defend myself. Scenting blood along with the rancid smell of an Outcast I know Alvin is at least wounded. 'Still that doesn't help much when the wounded Outcast is three times your size and much stronger than you.' I think to myself trying to keep fear from settling in and consuming me. "Well if it isn't me lucky day, not only is the Dragon Conqueror here, but it's his Starfray sister as well." Alvin's surly voice says making me stiffen and look behind me only to see his bulky form five feet away from me. I hold the dagger behind me as I start to scoot away feeling fearful. 'Snap out of it Tail. Hiccup needs you to buy him some time to escape.' My subconscious snaps at me. "Hiccup, I'm going to distract Alvin. When he leaves the room get out of the building through the window." I say in Dragonese so only he can understand me. Alvin advances towards me and I hop up to my feet backing out of the room dagger in hand. Coughing at the smoke entering my lungs I just exit the door way only to bump into a wall a few steps away. Looking around I spot a hearth and move towards it. Finding a few blocks of wood inside I quickly light it forcing a spark from my palm. Alvin quickly stalks into the room like a blood thirsty wolf, wanting to play with it's prey before it kills it. Forming a small water ball I toss it onto the fire to create more cover for myself. Quietly I move from my spot near the hearth and hide underneath the small table fit for a smaller family. Alvin growls angrily. "Come on out and fight like a man." He growls making me shiver in response. Angrily he stalks around the room looking for me, completely forgetting about Hiccup. My breath stops for a second as he comes around the table, but doesn't look underneath it. Just as he moves away I give myself a moment to crawl out before I slice through his amour and plunge my dagger into his chest. He takes the dagger out before tossing it away. Digging in my hip holster I fumble for another dagger before he charges at me. Kicking a nearby beam it falls infront of him having already been burning at the top. A small puff of cinders erupts from the beam almost getting in my eyes. Alvin roars in pain and fury as the ash gets in his eyes, he starts to lash out at the air around him. Using this chance leave the room and move back to the kitchen. Scenting Hiccup around the window I look in the cabinet quickly to see him gone. Smiling I climb on the counter and start to go through the window, and pass through the shards of pointy glass still there. Landing on the other side I escape the building as it continues to burn starting to smolder. Looking around I bolt up as I hear Alvin roar in fury inside the building closer now. Heaving a roar of my own I call for Midnight only for the damage I've taken from the smoke to catch up with me. Spotting Hiccup a few yards away I move towards him as he lay on the ground taking shaky breaths. Remembering my hip holster I take out the little vials I have inside of it for emergencies like this. "Green for poisoning, black for near death, gray for smoke." I list softly looking at three of the seven vials of liquid. Keeping the gray one I put the rest away before laying Hiccup on his back and forcing him to drink all the substance inside the vial. He coughs for a second before turning on his side and vomiting up the black substance inhibiting his lungs. Coughing harshly I double on myself and lay on my side curling up. I barely hear Midnight land a few feet away before I black out.
